Ok, here's a fun Hamilton-related clip for you -- from 2012, when LMM and Anthony Ramos did a musical number called "21 Chump Street" based on a story from "This American Life" story. It is GOLD.

I broke my foot when my hairdryer fell off the counter and landed just so on my bare foot. Hope that helps you feel better about your story. So sorry you are having to deal with a broken foot!

I’ve been watching the most quirky, wacko show on Hulu: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. It’s based on a Douglas Adams novel. Elijah Wood is in it and everything is bananas and I love it.

If you do fantasy, I hiiiiiighly recommend The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s SO GOOD. Every time I read it, I tell myself to go slowly and savor it, but I end up tearing through it, and being sad at the end because there are no more words left. I’ve probably read it 10 times, and listened to it an infinite number of times. (Disclaimer: it’s the first in a trilogy, and we’ve been waiting on the third installation for almost 9 years. The second book is also excellent, but he throws some weird sex stuff in there for a few chapters? It’s not very explicit! It just caught me off guard.)

I'm so sorry to hear about your foot, that just sucks and totally sounds like something I would do. My latest favorite is Sex Education on Netflix - it makes me LOL and super thankful that I am not a teenager.

My knee has been hurting for over two weeks now because it was cold out (Michigan) and I decided to jog

(slowly - I'm not a runner in any way shape or form) from the doors of Target to the car. Literally nothing happened and now I have some sort of knee injury on top of the other chronic pain I see a doctor for 😂. Just for a short jaunt through Targets parking lot. Sorry about your foot to! Make the peasants bring you icecream to your bedside.

I’m so sorry about your foot. You need your own personal Snacks. May one appear. By the way, it is now my only wish to somehow, someday become as good a human as Mr. Snacks.

Has anyone watched Love Is Blind?!

Me: (watching the opening trailer) "This is going to be so stupid"

Me: (first contestant says I love you) openly crying "This is so BEAUTIFUL!"

East Nashville is getting a lot of attention, so just sharing this which is focused on the parts of north Nashville that were also in the tornado:

"Spinning Silver" by Naomi Novik was a fantastic fantasy read! Reminded me a whole lot of Robin McKinley's books, if you like serious fairy tale destractions based in Eastern Europe (with no random scenes of nakedness 🤣)!

Ugh. I am so sorry. Broken ankles are the worst. Hoping you mend quickly. As for things to read and watch.... Currently obsessed with The Repair Shop a British show that is heart warming and fascinating. Also Fourtune Femister's comedy special almost made me pee in my pants I was laughing so hard. I am reading The Other Side of the Coin by Angela Kelly who is the Queen's stylist/dresser and it is mind-blowing the things that you don't think about when dressing a Royal. Also I love The Voice. Kelly and Nick are a riot. John is so smooth. Blake. Well there has to be a downer.

That photo of the Sussexes is what beautiful couple goals are made of. Geez Louise. WOWZERS.

My heart is so broken over Nashville. LosWhit shared some amazing stories yesterday about a Pastor who lost his church and I sobbed.

I'm gonna need someone to come educate some college students on staying home while sick because they are NOT GETTING THE MEMO. Sigh. I am still more worried about the flu than the beer virus but these kids and their germs coming into my office.

The only thing I can think to add is for you to watch any and all stand up comedy clips by Leanne Morgan... it's my new obsession.

Did you read Jessica Simpson's Autobiography? You should, definitely. I've been reading "The Home for Unwanted Girls" SO GOOD! I love good true-life podcasts - are you into those?

Down the Hill: The Delphi Murders is good. Imagined Life has great podcasts - they are about 40 minutes long about the beginnings of famous people (famous for all types of things). The Baron of Botox has been good about Dr. Bart. Broken Harts was about a family gone wrong.

Oh, please let me add my story of clumsiness to amuse us all. In February 2016 I fell. down. my. apartment. building. stairs. and broke both my tibia and fibula. In my driving leg. Compound fracture, had to have surgery (and have the booties that my mother had just bought me for Christmas cut off my leg - this fact made her so sad that she bought me another pair the next year, haha), and was non-weight bearing for approximately 12 weeks. I had a walker. And a shower bench. I was basically living my best 80-year-old grandma life.

I hope your recovery goes exceptionally quickly and that the Lunar Module runs smoothly while you stay on your couch and listen to doctor's orders!

First of all, that sucks. And could happen to anyone. Seriously.

Second, if you are in need of a long, fascinating read (or listen to the audio book) and haven’t already read this, I’m tackling “John Adams” by David McCullough and it is fantastic and very inspirational. Also, if you haven’t check out “The Fifth Season” series by N. K. Jemisin, I highly recommend. It’s sci-fi with a really cool writing style and story. I’m on the second book right now and very enthralled.

Hoping for a speedy recovery!!

I recently found myself going down a youtube rabbit-hole of videos about period drama films (as one does). This was prompted by my search for trailers/videos of the new adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved "Emma" (SO PUMPED YOU GUYS). And without further ado, for those of you who also love the 2005 Pride & Prejudice, here is a little gem that made my heart very glad and my mouth laugh louder than it needed to in public/at work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYQxnm8wug8

Oh no Erin! Listen take it from someone who has been immobile since November this is no joke. I had a sever infection in my right hip and getting rid of the infection has taken decades. I’m hopeful that Mar 21 my surgery will award me with a new hip.

I’ve survived on YouTube, DVR tv shows I follow, reading and podcasts. PMG specifically.

There is a series on Disney Plus called Encore hosted by Kristen Bell. Being a theater geek I think you’d dig it.

Hang in there friend! Give up walking for Lent and drink up the DDP. 😊

NOOO. So sorry about your foot! Your story brings me back to the time I got a hairline fracture in my ankle the week before I started 11th grade. I was at a community swimming pool for a youth group pool party where a bunch of my fellow swim team members worked as lifeguards. They were all the cool swimmers, so I felt cool knowing them. The pool was closing, so the lifeguards started double-jumping each other on the diving board (yikes, sorry for that language, but I’m not sure what else to call it). And everrryyyone left at the pool was watching - swim team + my youth group included. So, then they said I should try it, & feeling very cool-adjace, I agreed (I AM AN INTROVERT, Y’ALL, this was out of character for me). So I started jumping on the diving board and then a guy from the swim team was on the diving board behind me ready to do the double jump, and the laws of physics BETRAYED me. Straight up. I landed back down on the diving board at the moment when there was absolutely no bounce. So I basically landed on concrete and my ankle was not having it. I fell straight into the water right after I heard a collective groan from the crowd. Somehow, I made it to the ladder, climbed out, & the rest is history (ER, splint, horrible pain - although I only had a (hot pink 👌) cast for two weeks so that’s a plus). Weirdly, I hobbled into my first class of 11th grade on crutches and the guy who double-bounced me was in that class with me. He said NOTHING. No words to me about it ever. And we were still on the swim team together for two more years. It’s fine.

Anyway, thank you for making it to the end of this story. 😂 Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Gah, sorry about your foot, Erin. Getting older is hard.

Oh, but thank-you thank-you for that Bobby Ryan link. As a former Minnesotan now living in a hockey desert, I teared up hard watching this. Also, I am printing out the corona virus zine for myself.

Good things this week:

1. It's feeling like spring here in Kansas and I am HERE FOR IT. We've eaten outside 3 times this week.

2. This YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Kurzgesagt has fascinating videos about lots of topics. The animation is just so cool. WARNING: My oldest did decide to try vegetarianism after watching the one about meat, so, you've been warned.

3. I started Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu last fall and quit it 4 episodes in, but recently picked it back up again. While I still am not a fan of most of the American characters, Gemma is my new favorite. It makes for good, mindless soap opera television.

4. Another mindless television show: The Masked Singer. Random celebrities dressing up in elaborate costumes + Heart strings being pulled by their stories + Weird celebrity panel of judges + Singing + crazy reveals = my kind of mindless tv.

Hope healing is swift!

A couple weeks ago, on The Lazy Genius podcast, Kendra mentioned that there’s a TLG Facebook group where people go to look for help on being a Lazy Genius and sharing tips. I’ve been a member for several months, but her mention brought lots of new people to the group. I’ve been loving reading everyone’s questions, suggestions, and tips! Even if they’re not relevant to me, it’s fun to see people name a problem and see others trying to help solve it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any rude or judge mental comments, so that makes it a delightful place!

For coronavirus memes and PSAs: this from @drunk_austen on washing your hands to the Darcy proposal speech has been my favorite this week https://www.instagram.com/p/B9TYlXVAXbH/

also this one with an aptly appropriate (is that redundant? IDK) pairing with Lady Macbeth's "out damned spot" soliloquy is 🔥🔥🔥 https://twitter.com/reduced/status/1234980644192575488/photo/1

Also, reading Ecclesiastes for Lent has been timely... I made the mistake of reading The Little Prince this week (because of the Boy - sorry yall, that's my only update on that sitch this week, also what do we think of the Little Prince? am I the only one that finds it so so sad? should I be worried that its this man's favorite book?) which made me feel all depressed and spiraly and HEVEL.

BUT JESUS REDEEMS ALL THINGS AND GIVES THEM MEANING OKAY? (I'm yelling at myself. its cool its cool.)

As for distractions for your current state:

1. Lucy Knisely has some fun graphic memoirs I would recommend.

2. I've been binging Grown-ish (Black-ish's spinoff on FreeForm) which is always an interesting insight into Gen Z.

3. Does anyone else watch A Million Little Things?? It's so dumb and soapy but I just keep watching each week.

I'm so sorry, Erin! I broke my ankle/leg in 2016 and it sucks. It's a very pathetic story I hope will make you laugh and feel better.

It was a freak bicycle accident in the cul-de-sac down the street from my house. I just literally am bad at biking and fell over when I tried to turn in the cul-de-sac.

I broke my ankle/leg in 3 PLACES, which included a technically "open fracture" (when bone is exposed... but mine was super minor!) where we thinking the pedal stabbed my leg. I scream the F-word, which I'm sure all my neighbors loved, because it hurt so bad. People were like, "Oh, you weren't hit by a car on a busy street? You weren't mountain biking?" NO KAREN, I WAS JUST ON A NEIGHBORHOOD RIDE, AIGHT?!

Also I had not showered in 3+ days and was planning on showering after my ride. Unfort, since I had to go straight to the hospital and wait for 8 hours for surgery due to having eaten right prior to the ride and the expediency of the "open" part of my fracture, I was then not allowed to shower or wash my hair for another 2-3 days. Nothing is worse than how disgusting you feel after 5 days of not showering, which included a sweaty humid bike ride and then laying in bed for 2 days.

But in the end I survived and got to use a knee-cart for 2 months, so that's cool!
