๐ Lil Treasures #126: The Lunar Eclipse and Ignoring Jerks
We're talking burrito spillage and the difficulties of parenting
Hello! We made it to Friday, everyone. We are halfway through May and thank the good Lord because it is the month of soccer games! programs! recitals! choir concerts! parent meetings! everything else! at my house, and all this juggling is getting out of hand. Anyone else? ๐
I saw this tweet from Sister Beth earlier this week and wanted to manifest this along with her.
Iโve handled my fair share of jerks lately, and I think we all need liberation from the nonsense. The internet also gives more opportunities for the jerks to emerge. So letโs do this together! Breathe in. Think of the jerks. Move on from the jerks. Ignore the jerks. May we all be set free.
Time for treasures!
๐ช The Atlantic posted an excellent (although slightly distressing) article this past week called Nothing Beautiful Survives the Culture War, about the days we find ourselves in as parents, and just how difficult it is to be a child or raise a child in the current climate here in the United States.
๐ I have selected Giannis Antetokounmpo as my basketball athlete of choice because he is pure and hilarious (and also good at sports?) and now I am thrilled because DisneyPlus is making a movie about his family! Watch the trailer here.
๐ It is my duty as a carrier of the last name Moon to let you know about the lunar eclipse happening this Sunday. You can find out more about how it watch it here!
โค๏ธ I wrote a little bit about the conversation around Roe V. Wade over on The Swipe Up+ earlier this week. If this subject is something youโre trying to work through (like many of us), come join me behind the paywall as we try to walk through the intricacies of difficult topics like this. Youโll get extra content every Tuesday + a few other perks, and Iโd love for you to be a part!
๐ง If this video isnโt a stunt pulled by every one of our kids.
โ๏ธ One of my favorites Kristin du Mez (you may know her as the author of Jesus and John Wayne) appeared in this interview about the corruption of evangelical culture. Itโs 18+ minutes long but definitely worth the watch. On this same subject, another article in The Atlantic came out this week about how politics have poisoned the church - you can read that here but be advised, it is behind the paywall!
๐ฏ Calling all lovers of burritos! Do you feel like your burrito-eating experience is less enjoyable because of the amount of toppings you lose over the side with every bite? Well, a lil treat for you today - this guy made up something called the Burrito Bumper and if itโs really for sale I will be buying ASAP.
Time for the Tweets!
(for reference, here is the water buffalo song)
Have a great weekend, pals! Donโt forget to leave all your fun treasures in the comments before you go. Byeeeeeee.
My boyfriend PROPOSED Saturday!! It was absolutely perfect. And yes he always has a pile of clothes next to his bed.
I have never posted here, but after 2.25 yrs, the Covid finally got our house and I'm in solitary and climbing the walls. I put the return of the TB Mexican pizza on our family calendar, and I had better be well enough to eat one next week! Dolly's TB musical is just further confirmation that she is one of my people. And the Mexican pizza is going to be next week's treasure if it kills me.
My kids acted like they didn't understand what was happening in the "boneless" video, but I'm on to them. Unfortunately, my 9yro resting his head on the counter mid-way thru making his breakfast was probably an indicator that he's the next Covid domino to fall in our house.๐
Also, the Water Buffalo song is a timeless classic, so take that, John Newton and Charles Wesley!
