🔥Lil Treasures #138: Slytherin and Flamin' Seasonal Depression
We're talking Mario Kart and Dirty Diet Coke
Hi everyone!
Congrats on making it to Friday. I am pushing myself across this summer finish line with as much vigor as I can possibly muster. This has been my brain lately if I’m being honest:
BUUUUT my kids go back to school this week! It is time for the return of structure and schedules! Summer vacation is almost over and while that is sad I am also ready for the start of a fresh and beautiful school year.
Do any of you have back-to-school rituals that you practice each year? Maybe a school year Opening Ceremony? My ceremony is mainly just going to Target so let me know if you have any cooler ideas.
Now on to the treasures:
👸Y’all know I ride hard for Mary Magdalene and against the patriarchy as often as I can, but I think this scholar named Elizabeth Schrader rides harder and I’m here for it! Read all about her research and journey here. My favorite part of the article: “A woman has to know her worth,” she said, “to dig and find this.”
🥤God bless it, it is so hot. Thank you all for letting me continuously complain about this. A fun new drink I’ve been loving to stay cool recently is this Dirty Diet Coke from Euna Mae’s made with Diet Coke (obviously) and mostly stuff you already have in your house.
⛪ The state of the American church can at times be quite annoying and disappointing these days. Aaron Niequist shared this Ode to the Church by Carlo Caretto and it stopped me in my tracks, in a good way. Thanks to my friend April for sharing it with me!
🦁I thoroughly enjoyed this article that sorted each of states in the U.S. into a Hogwart’s House. Do you think the sorting hat got your state correct?
🎧Some fun other places you can find me this week are on the Everything is OK podcast and the Prophetic Imagination Station podcast with my dearest D.L. Mayfield! Some fun conversations happening about faith and taekwando and the Christy Miller series happening in these spaces.
💞As you gear up for the chaos that homework and morning routines bring, let this post on life-giving words for kids from Meredith Anne Miller be a companion with you.
Let’s do some Tweets!
Feeling these first two tweets in a very real way:

Maybe she’s born with it 💋

Have a great weekend, pals! Can’t wait to read about what you’re loving in the comments.

Erin, I would love to see a deep dive in MM and the gospel of MM! She is my patron saint and I know her gospel isn’t accepted by the Church, but would love to learn more! This article made me so happy.
Hi Everyone - I need a favor if anyone can help. My daughter just came out of a very brutal marriage (SA + mental abuse), and has 4 young children (ages 11, 10, 6, 5). She’s going back to work since being a stay at home mom, starting over and gaining her independence. She’s a 7th grade ELA teacher. Her ex has not paid any child support/alimony and she’s been struggling to get the kids backpacks, school supplies, shoes, clothes, etc. We helped her out enough with that so that they’re set on that end. What she needs help with is clearing her classroom list. She has a large list, but she’s starting our new and from scratch (so her list is expansive). I would say her #1 goal is to stock her classroom library. I know so many folks are struggling, and I would graciously appreciate any help, even if it’s just a pencil. Here is a link to her Amazon list. I was not sure where else to put this. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/ls/SDC39RYY1BQP?triggerElementID=huddles&ref_=wl_cl_ll_vl
