I know I'm v-late to the party, but I am feeling deeply Erin's love for the return of routine. Like, it wasn't quite back to normal since the dude ended up snowed out of his job, but the reality that holiday questions of 'what are you doing to celebrate' aren't going to be asked of me anymore is magical.

🏖️I actually love the beach, but here in central NC we have the choice to do beach or mountains in a similar driving distance and the NC mountains are just too wonderful. I will say the Florida gulf coast is amazing. ☀️
If you like Richmond’s new baby hippo, you should definitely follow the Cincinnati Zoo Twitter. They have a baby (toddler?) hippo and their coverage is *chef’s kiss*. Between that and the penguin parade, their account is crushing the daily joy game.
Christmas was delightful and the morning was spent on the ski hill and the afternoon was spent opening gifts. This week has been a blur but yesterday, one day before the cut off of my timeline, I hit my YTD goal for my store. It's exciting and important and allows me to get a bonus which is a huge sigh of relief for me (and might allow me to go home and see my family for a few days :'))
Bringing a "Bread & Spread" platter to a NYE party tomorrow night. Got to see my best friend this week, in town from Philly. This week has treated me pretty well. ❤
We are at my parents' house. It's fine, low-drama, but I'm ready to go HOME. I'm pretty sure my mom has undiagnosed ADD, which looks like mild hoarding and generalized clutter everywhere. I'm not a minimalist, but I had forgotten to prepare myself for how much stuff there is in every room of this place.
We've had good cousin time, and it's been nice to not be in charge of food and activities. Too much to eat and drink, which is exactly how it should be this week, and I'm having a hard time keeping track of what day it is.. In a word, glorious!
We went to our local community college sky observatory last night and got to see Saturn, mars and Jupiter and all sorts of star clusters through the telescope and it was one of the coolest things we did over break.
Otherwise it was staying cozy and lots of good reading and rest which has been very needed.
I bought a 5 gallon bucket of paint and have signed up our family for a few days of painting part of our house (living room and kitchen). We also bought new living room furniture that won’t be delivered till end of January. So in the mean time, painting, sitting around on camping chairs, reflecting, journaling and a little bickering about what i signed up our family for this week.
Fun fact! “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas” was a song written to lobby for a hippo at the OKC zoo and it worked! Less fun fact: the hippo exhibit at the OKC zoo is super stinky.
I was so confused while reading the beach thread and then realized that my favorite beaches are Lake Michigan beaches, which are a whole different thing than the ocean! 😆
Miraculously, our flight on Christmas to Washington was neither cancelled nor delayed! There's snow everywhere and I am delighted (and also not doing the driving)! My husband has a big family, so it's been overwhelming, but getting to spend lots of time with our nephew is worth it.
It’s been awhile... finally have time to catch up with you all! Paid time off from work is definitely my treasure this week! Spending time with my hubby and our kids, catching up with reading, going for walks, taking naps, not having to rush... Oh my goodness - who am I?! 🥰

Christmas has been a lovely haze of books, movies, games, snacks and dog walks. We get a full two weeks off this year. The first was for "surrendering to the mystery". The second is for organizing, cleaning, and building furniture for our offices. Gotta go carb load. Happy New Year!
