đLil Treasures #161: Mean Girls and NFL Football
We're talking libraries and early 2000's bangers
Friends and comrades! We are neck deep in the bowels of January and I hope itâs being good to you. Knowing January is the hardest month, Past Erin went ham on some plans. This weekend I am headed to Atlanta to see Hadestown, next weekend I am getting to together with some of my dearest and oldest friends in Santa Fe for our fortieth year extravaganza (more on this later), and then the last week of January, Marlo (my middle) and I are headed on her special 10 year birthday trip to Chattanooga. All of these plans are doing the work I need them to do: help me look forward to something. Please tell me in the comments what YOU are currently looking forward to, so we can call anticipate TOGETHER.
In prepping for Marloâs trip, I thought I might ask you for any Chatty recs. Fun boutique hotels, good kid-friendly restaurants that feel like an experience, or canât miss activities. We will def be headed to the aquarium, but other than that and an interwoven schedule to talk about periods and consent, itâs open!
Aaaaaand now for this weekâs good treasures:
đĽMy millennial heart will always beat unapologetically for Jeff Goldblum.
đ Weâre deep in the throes of learning how to parent a middle schooler, so this resource about coaching your daughter through friend drama is a life-saver for me right now.
đIf you are an avid sports fan or just follow the news, you may have seen the tragic accident happened with Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin last week where he collapsed on the field during the game due to cardiac arrest. It was so scary. Damar was discharged from the hospital earlier this week and is starting the road to recovery! This past week the Bills played their first game without Damar and returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and it was so emotional and I donât even like football. I also saw this post-game interview later where they found out it had been 3 years and 3 months since their last opening kickoff return, and Damar is coincidentally enough #3. HACK YOUR CRY TODAY.
đDonât miss the nuggets of advice in this thread that are pure gold, my favorite being: âIf youâre going to lose a fight, make sure the other person thinks twice before fighting you again.â
âď¸I found the greatest joy watching this costume montage.
đWho among us has unknowingly vibed to songs of the early 2000âs with no concept of the lyrics like in this Ludacris banger.
Twitterâs Finest:
We see you and we value you, Gen Z
My feelings are all over the place with this acceptance speech:
And with emotional ending, 𤧠this weekâs newsletter is a wrap! Itâs been a pleasure, pals! Looking forward to reading your treasures in the comments. See you again next week, same time and place?
Ooh, if it hasnât already been mentioned, would love to know more about the agenda/discussion points for periods and/or consent with the 10 year old! Iâm the most awkward at finding those natural inroads to these discussions. Dying to know how youâll casually jump into menstrual cycles while on the incline railroad or exploring the saltwater fish exhibit at the aquarium. đ§
Love reading about everyoneâs travel plans! Hereâs to adventure! Hereâs to wanderlust!
Looking most chronologically forward to the launch of a small group for new/young couples Iâm facilitating (I am basically the chaperone) that Iâve called <clears throat>: Can I Get Your Number? Love & the Enneagram - all about how tools like the Enneagram help form language around complex behaviors and relationships. SO so pumped. I havenât even publicized it officially in my church home and already have three couples committed WHAT?!
And what a gift this trip will be for your girl. Last time I was in Chattanooga, we stopped for brunch at State of Confusion. I still think about that ceviche dish.
