The dinosaur video really got me. So funny! Only one thing that made me laugh harder this week—this video of auburn fans jumping over bushes and someone added music from the Nutcracker to it. It’s so good. https://www.facebook.com/100000577710160/posts/3013657755330119?sfns=mo

I recommend the Baby Shark cereal. Some ridiculous person in my family bought my 14 month old a box of it because she loves Baby Shark (I am working to rectify this ASAP). I was like heck no I’m not giving her all that sugar. But I won’t let good cereal go to waste. It’s like crunch berries, fruit loops and lucky charms met up. Yum. I also love Dolly Parton’s America!

I love the very beginning and end of Center Stage.

But what I'm loving-

Mike Birbiglia's new special. It made me laugh and cry and he's so good at story telling.

I had my 3.5 (how do I say it nicely) energetic...son watch Mister Rogers and it kept his attention. My mind was blown.

Everything else has been a big ole turd blossom.

HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE!! They’re White CREME, not white chocolate?! I CAN EAT REESE’S TREES AND NOT GET A MIGRAINE? This is your greatest gift to me of all time, Erin!

Also Making It is so very delightful as is Nailed It and I’m pretty sure now I’m only going to watch shows that end in “It”. Pure unadulterated, unabashed, un-2019 joy.

I know it's a while since Erin talked about the Knight before Christmas, but I just watched it this week. Anyone else think the sequel will be them both going back to the middle ages?

1. I watched Knives Out and really liked it. I was probably trying to figure it out way too much to fully appreciate it but I for sure know Chris Evans is too insanely attractive to be considered a “normal” person in a movie.

2. I’ve enjoyed watching His Dark Materials and listening to the Nerdette podcast about it

3. It was my birthday this past week and I enjoyed a free bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes as well as a free Starbucks drink. I love free stuff

I am here any and all of the content I never knew I needed: Chris Evans in Sweaters. Also, relatedly, hooping for a renaissance of non-horror/creepy murder mystery movies, and it was my birthday and I found a mix for sugar-free/keto brownies that was DELICIOUS. Yay! Also chaffles.

I’ve watched Seth Meyers’ standup special on Netflix three times in the past few weeks. It’s a lot about parenthood so it’s very relatable. I cry laughing every time!

Sacred Ordinary Days and Examen question: It looks like there are only weekly examen pages in the planner, is this correct? Does anyone know of a PAPER daily examen? I have several apps but would prefer to be screen free before bed. I realize I could simply use a journal but I do like the prompts.

How about a few IG rabbit holes I fell down this week while I was trying to avoid making my family dinner:

1.) Courtney Clark Cleveland (IG @courtclarkcleve) and her entire story highlights about "To The Nipples". H/T to our 👑 Erin Moon for that one.

2.) Danny Pellegrino (IG @dannypellegrino) and his #JessicaThursday series. This seems like a stretch for me because, a.) I generally avoid Bravo because all that staged drama and plastic surgery gives me heart palpitations, and b.) I was never a Jessica Simpson fan. But his weekly posts of her singing/"acting"/talking/"dancing" clips and his commentary are giving my lyfe this week.

3.) And speaking of old Hollywood, found @thiswashollywood from a post about behind the scenes footage of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze rehearsing the Dirty Dancing lift. It is a gorgeous dose of classic leading men, Vera Ellen and her impossibly small waist dancing, behind the scenes photos, and more. So good.

4.) Anyone heard of this podcast called The Popcast? 😏 Flavortown!!!!!

3 things:

1. Hot Take: Circe was amazing, was disappointed in Song of Achilles. It was a really interesting take, but somehow I wasn't as invested as I was with Circe. Really fascinated though with what the author did with Circe cause frankly I didn't like Circe but I cared about her?

2. I ordered the Sacred Ordinary Days Planner, then cancelled my order because my husband loves to #budget (ew) and they emailed me back and said we'll refund your money but we are still sending you that junt FOR FREE. So yes I am now team SOO for life.

3. Google Image Search "Jimmy Stewart on a bike -dirt" and you will have a great rest of your day guaranteed. (The -dirt is because apparently there's a famous dirt biker named James Stewart.)

Catlick!!!!!!!! I binged this podcast while I cooked for thanksgiving last week. Serial killers, Atlanta, secrets, early 1900’s setting - I AM IN. Thank you, Erin, for the recommendation! A few days before I listened to this, I tried a new podcast that sounded great, but the podcaster (?) just wasn’t a captivating storyteller. But B.T. Hartman had me hooked within the first minute of Catlick. I’m recommending it to everyone!

We moved our Amazon firestick from our bedroom to the living room so we could watch Disney+ (our tv wouldn’t download the app). I needed a new firestick for the bedroom, so I waited until Black Friday to get one since they’re usually 50% off. We had the basic model, but when I saw a fancier model for $5 more with “4K” and “ultra” in the description, I decided to get it, even though I had no idea what the difference would be. All of that long story to say, the new remote can turn our tv on and off and adjust the volume, and it is SPECTACULAR to only use one remote 😆

Movies that feel like emotional junk food/a weighted blanket. I know that Frozen 2 wasn’t that great, but seeing Olaf explain the entire first movie by interpretive dance and that tiny fire lizard brought me great joy. Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Yes, there’s some racist parts. I get it. Also. Audrey Hepburn sipping coffee at sunrise in a LBD while Moon River softly plays in the background? It feels like I’m being tucked into bed. The Princess Diaries is also a fav of mine for this type of week.

(Reading all these comments; I think I need to just live on THIS page of the internet, you all are amazing and my people)

1. Erin: I see your Tom Hanks crush based on that photo, but why did I also pause on the photo of Adam Sandler from that same slideshow? It's like when pictures of Seth Rogen from a shoot he did with GQ got my attention last year.

2. Really loving The Quiet Collection for Christmas by Emily P. Freeman. Her messages help me so much in this busy season

3. The beauty of doing more online holiday shopping (even groceries) to destress me, I'm coming to realize that going to stores just stresses me out and brings out anxiety as there is TOO much stuff. I heavily tip those who deliver to me in 2 hours or less now that winter is fully here in Minnesota.

What is it about old Hollywood men holding cigarettes and wearing tshirts? Gah. James Dean grew up a couple towns over from where my grandparents live in Indiana and there is a James Dean Festival there every year. Could never get over the pics on the billboards driving through town. Maybe I need to go to the festival now as an adult and try to meet someone from the look alike contest. ☺️

I’m loving my Advent reading and morning routine right now. I get to spend hours (HUGE free time flex) reading and praying and meditating and it has been absolutely glorious. I know this is only for a season but I’m taking full advantage.

I love @nathanwpylestrangeplant on Instagram. It is an absolute delight. No snark, snipe, or sarcasm. Only sweetness with a huge dose of relatability.

I started the new season of Making It! I’m obsessed with all things Nick and Amy and we LOVED season one. Also a place with goodness and sincerity.

Husband and I started attending the local Episcopal church again and it is giving me literal life. I’ve already had a lunch date with Lisa, our priest so we’re fully in. I’m also ready Holy Envy by Barbara Brown Taylor so I’m obviously going to enroll in seminary tomorrow.

Ana Gasteyer’s Christmas album: Sugar & Booze. My 9 yr old son heard the title track (I am mom of the year, here) and declared it the best song. Her duet with national treasure Maya Rudolph is gold. Also, Idina Menzel’s Christmas album: Seasons of Christmas is a winner! One track is a recording of her son on his 3rd Hanukkah and it will make you cry and hold your babies tight and wish they were still babies!

I don't have any recs except for food because it was a hard week, folks, and my LA commute was HORRID every single day. I need a paint gun to squirt on bad drivers so Jesus can find them easy and go ahead with the rapture. Enjoy these all - as appetizers, or standing and eating them post terrible drives home. SO GOOD.

Mini cheesecake cones, pimento cheese puffs, "Hold the Corn" appetizers, scallops wrapped in bacon with maple sugar glaze, and Hot Cocoa Snowman (melts in your hot cup of milk)!

So many things! I just read a YA romance novel called The Lovely War, where Aphrodite and Ares explain their involvement in WWI. It was super interesting!

Also, Gene Kelly ALL DAY LONG. And the VE Abraham number. We're watching White Christmas tonight - my kids all love it too.

We got a robot vacuum on Black Friday, and my floor has been clean for a whole week. This is a record. And it's fascinating to watch it out figure out how to navigate. We have named it Elmer Fudd, because it hunts dust wabbits.

I just discovered a docuseries hosted by Will Smith called "One Strange Rock" on Netflix. It is leaving Netflix on Jan 1 so I'm trying to watch it all before it disappears. It's interviews with astronauts talking about how after they went to space and saw Earth from afar it completely changed their perspective on the planet. I've only watched episode one about Oxygen and it's importance for us (obvi) and the planet. Reminds me a lot of planet earth but with Will Smith explaining science-y things to me which I think is delightful. WHO KNEW I WOULD BE SO INTERESTED IN THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUTH AFRICAN DUST STORMS AND HOW THEY FERTILIZE THE AMAZON BUT I AM NOW.

Also, another Netflix binge is Reese Witherspoon's interview show called "Shine On". I think she filmed this a few years ago but it was recently put on Netflix. She interviews successful women in different industries. Each ep is 30 minutes long and I loved it so much. Reese has always felt like a cooler older sister to me and this show has made me want to invite her over for tea and talk about my life with her. Guests include Dolly Parton, Kacey Musgraves, and America Fererra.

Disney +! Reliving my youth. On Wednesdays, I babysit a 1 year old all day. We binged (I binged and he napped/opened all cabinets/pushed counter stools back and forth) all the classics- Peter Pan, Sword and the Stone and Robin Hood. Is it weird that I’m attracted to the fox version of Robin Hood? I also watched Hercules. I too am going through a Greek Mythology phase. I started reading the Percy Jackson series so I could connect with my daughter. They are excellent!

Ooooh, since we’re talking creamers (Allie McDade - oatmilk is heaven!), I’m obsessed with Califia Farms’ holiday almond milk flavors: toffee and mint (two separate ones...whew). Also, I have a 3 year old daughter who’s randomly into crop tops (I work out in crop sports bras, but she doesn’t seem interested in those) and a 10 year old daughter who just cut 7 shirts into crop tops to oblige her. Wonderful. I’m loving the humor behind the story but I’d be loving a solo trip to Target to restock on non belly baring 3T shirts even more haha!
