🍀 Lil Treasures #247: Goblins, Lucky Charms + Mormon Wives
I just don't know if MomTok can survive this
Hello everyone! 👋
This week has been a doozy for me, calendar-wise. It was packed full of things I really wanted to do, but also did not leave a lot of margin for things I had to do. I definitely felt the repercussions of these decisions.
Often when I don’t carve in time for rest + errands, I find myself slightly resentful at whatever I have going on that is keeping me from doing some of those essential tasks (even if its something I really want to do). For my fellow over-committers, does this quote from Natalie Lue resonate with you?
I’ll be chewing on Natalie’s words as I continue to make calendaring decisions for the rest of the year. If you have a magical formula for good time management, let me know in the comments!
For now, let’s get to to the good part:
This week’s treasures!
🎊 It’s release week for Lyndsay Rush’s new book A Bit Much! If you don’t have your copy yet, you can get a lil discount on Amazon right now. I got to help M.C. Lyndsay’s book launch party in Nashville this past week, and it was about as delightful and fun as you could imagine. It was so lovely getting to see some of you, too!
🐢 I thoroughly enjoyed watching this short little snippet on the day in the life of this cute little tortoise.
🥤 Have you binge-watched the new show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives? If you are a MomTok expert and have already mapped out the closest Swig soda shop to your house, this week’s episode of Faith Adjacent is right up your alley! On the episode, we’re debating whether or not things like The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Single-Issue Voting, and Men who Dislike Women in Faith Spaces are favored or forsaken. You can listen to the episode here or wherever you get your pods!
✍ Many of us have a deep-rooted fear that someone is going to go find old embarrassing photos of us on Facebook and this is exactly what happened to the L.A. Chargers football team.
👹 I truly wish I could be mindful and cutesy but really I’m just a goblin.
🌟 In last week’s newsletter I shared a poem from the lovely Jordan Harrell, and can’t help it but share another one this week! Her newest poem goes out to all of you mid-life guys + gals who have had your share of ups and downs.
🥣 Here in the United States of America we are focused on the important things, like Lucky Charms.
⛏️ I adore
’s writings, and found this recent essay where she interviewed author Rebecca Claren on her new book about families and migration so fascinating. If you are a native Texan or enjoy a good ancestry deep-dive, give her post “I Found All Sorts of Dirt Immediately” a quick read.🤫 If you have ever felt this busy before (slowly raises hand), join me in listening to Emily P. Freeman’s newest episode on the Quaker practice of silence with guest Carrie Newcomer.
💔 It is absolutely devastating to read these recent stats published on Palestinian deaths in Gaza. I’m having a hard time processing that fourteen pages were sweet little babes. Please continue to contact your reps to tell them this is not okay and you want the US to push for a ceasefire now.
🐶 Thankful for some of the fine residents of Springfield, OH and their efforts to make sure to set the record straight.
This week’s best memes:
That’s a wrap, folks! Do us all a favor and bless us with your treasures from the week in the comments. See you here again next week, capeesh?
I had not seen the football player one, but I did see this one and it was great : https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTF6gcQjq/
Erin!❤️ This Natalie Lue quote helped me finally decide to say no to baking for an event I dread every year. It always happens a week after Thanksgiving (my busiest week of the year), they ask me to bake for a super reduced price, and proceeds go to a cause I’m not passionate about. I’ve been doing it out of a false sense of obligation for a long time. I sent a gentle and kind no today, and I immediately felt so much lighter. Thank youuu for the encouragement!
