👶 Lil Treasures #111: New Babies and Wordle Could Be Our Hurdle
Plus: True Love Weights and luxury cabinets
Buenos Dias, pals! Hope your Friday has started off mostly toasty and warm.
I had every intention of doing some Q + A this week and then my family got trapped in a close contact-come home from school/work-get tested-wait for results-start all over again HAMSTER WHEEL and I am dragging myself across the Friday Finish Line. Solidarity to everyone in the same boat, and you know what: solidarity to everyone in different boats, too. Solidarity across the bay, to all the boats!
Now on to those treasures! There’s a lot this week!
👶 Remember our friend Tricia from a few weeks ago that you guys blessed the socks off of by purchasing items from her baby list? Well I’m so happy to announce that Baby Windsor “Winnie” was born on January 13th! Mom and baby are both doing great. Thank you guys so much for stepping in for Tricia and the whole family! Tricia wanted me to share this with you:
“Stephen and I are filled with wonder and gratitude, especially about what the Lil Swipes did for us! The weight off of our shoulders knowing that we have what we need when we get home is immense. Y’all have truly blessed us. Thank you.”
💅 Thank you guys for taking the time and nominating so many dear people in your life for the Olive and June giveaway! I got very emotional reading your nominations because of the incredible folks out there who are going through some really hard things. We officially selected a winner: Lil Swipes Katie’s friend Melissa! Melissa has been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer the last few months while also pregnant. We found out this week that Melissa gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Crew on Jan 14th! Hoping some pretty nails will make her feel lovely during this time of transition and treatment.

🔥 This week’s Bible Binge episode is all about the most fun topic: hell. We’re looking at some of the different ideologies around hell and what we believed vs. what we believe currently. I have been SO EXCITED for this episode and I’m really proud of it. You can listen here or all the normal places one listens to podcasts.
🛁 If you’re in the mood for a good read today, this article called Your Bubble Is Not the Culture in The Atlantic provides an interesting perspective on the influence (often negative) of social media and journalism on the things we find joy in.
🗄️ I am in the market for some luxury cabinets like these.
❤️Young Erin’s heart leaped for joy as the Redeeming Love movie came out today. I wore this book OUT in high school, and most anything Francine Rivers had her hands on. The older I get and the further removed I am from some of the problems within purity culture though, the more I see the issues that this kind of writing within Redeeming Love had for so many of us. I don’t want anyone to feel shame if you go see the movie, because I totally understand the sentimental weight that the book has for most Christian ladies in our generation. I’m hopefully going to see it this week, and I’m interested to find out if it’s been changed or if it’s just a straight adaptation of the book.
🤯 Watch this video from the Jimmy Kimmel show and prepare yourself to be baffled by just how little these men (and most) know about the female body.
This week’s Twitter highlights:

“Don’t think God can’t use it”

That’s all I’ve got for the newsletter this week! Guys, I know it’s tough out there. If you’re overwhelmed riding the see-saw of quarantines and snowy weather and working day jobs and cooking food, know I am there too. The picture below is from 2020, but I have been thinking about it a lot lately, as it has continued to ring true even now (during Season 4 of Covid). Don’t forget to check on your friends this week, it seems like everyone is struggling and could use a warm casserole or heart-shaped brownie. See you in the comments!
Note: hey pals. An earlier version of this newsletter contained an article about Redeeming Love that I agreed with up to a point, but I didn’t clarify where I disagreed and that confused some of you. I apologize for the confusion and I’ve removed the article for clarity’s sake. Love y’all. Mean it.

From afar, this community is an incredible Internet community. It's encouraging and kind. Really everything we all need and maybe I need. I've had people ask recently how I'm doing, and I can only share that I'm close to drowning but still above water. With a new house, three little ones, a covid hospital visit for our 4 month old (all healthy now, but frustrated at lack of masks still 😐) and spotty internet (feels dumb each time I say it, but my husband works from home typically, but having to go into an ((empty)) office really disrupts our very delicate ecosystem of a home), it all feels like too much.
So I guess I'm saying I feel like this community is what I need to just even see the comments in today. I want more depth, but lack the energy half the time.
My fam took a turn on the covid exposure hamster wheel this week. So THRILLED we finally got our turn. Anyway, husband is positive, rest negative, so it's back to the sheet show that is HS teaching for me! I'm so very thankful for all the coworkers who covered my classes and obviously, vaccines! Most of all, the woman who is our sub secretary at school is a total freaking ninja. She is like a champion puzzle solver for keeping our school open. Every school has a person who does this, so if you are looking for someone to bless--that would be a great person to start with!!
