Hello everyone. Welcome to this week’s edition of Lil Treasures. I don’t have much in the tank other than a whole lot of rage, so I’m going to leave it to the treasures + tweets to make up for that this week. Between the SBC report and the school shooting in Uvalde (and the response from people at both) I am NOT FEELING GREAT about things.
If you are in the same boat as me, I would implore you to take some time over the next few days (in between contacting your government officials, of course) to take care of yourself and your emotions.
Whatever self-care options work best for you, put them in practice and make sure your head doesn’t stay in the dark. And if you have your own self-care treasures or tips, leave those in the comments!
Speaking of treasures, let’s go!
📷 I met Laura Beth Davidson at the Lazy Genius launch party (where she took these amazing photos) and begged her to come to Birmingham to snap some photojournalism-type pics for my family. She complied and I am so delighted! If you are local to Birmingham and have been hoping to get some new photos taken, may I present you with a golden opportunity? Laura Beth will be in town from June 24-26 and the Moon family is not going to hog all 3 days. If you’re free that weekend and need some new photos taken, send her an email at hello@laurabethdavidson.com!
❤️ Reddit can be a fascinating place and simultaneously a giant scary hole. Katie Crenshaw did us all a service and pulled together some recent Reddit highlights and I really enjoyed reading through them!
😔 This article in The Atlantic written after the Robb Elementary shooting this past week is extremely sobering. It was an absolutely horrific event, and claimed the lives of innocent children who were just trying to finish out the last couple of weeks of school. There is so much grief there but also so much anger, because these tragedies could be preventable with greater restrictions placed on owning and purchasing guns. If you want to become more educated on some of these changes, this helpful thread on Instagram by designmom lists out a few ways we can improve our gun regulations as as country. And as always, please don’t forget to contact your senators and representatives about these issues! Feel unsure of what to say? I’ve included my friend Jamie’s suggestion below! (I’ve also linked the ways you can find your respective government officials)

⚾ I want the confidence and finesse of this baseball all-star during his walkout song.
🍕Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza is finally back and even Dolly Parton is endorsing this delicacy! Have you had one yet since they’ve graced us once again with their cheesy presence? Let me know in the comments.
TWITTER HALL OF FAME 🏆
In light of the SBC report that was released this past Sunday:

This week has been tough, but I’m still so glad you’re here. Hoping your holiday weekends are filled with as much of the new Harry Styles as you can take and all the barbecued meats! Bye!
Hi. First time commenter. Desperate for safe company.
My friend died, March 15th, she loved Mexican pizzas. She shared the petition, was so excited to have it coming back…
Her mom and sister asked her friends to have a Mexican Pizza “for Amanda” and pay for the car behind us. In our little town, and her’s she grew up in, that’s just what many did. 💙 🌮 🍕
So…in the disaster of life right now…a day of “paying it forward” & Taco Bell was a glimmer of sunshine. ☀️
(Am I allowed to use Emojis here? 🥴)
So much rage. So much religious posturing about the world needing Jesus. Well that might be true, white Christian influencer, but we could use some better gun laws in the meantime.
I live in CA, all my reps are on board with gun reform but I called them with Jamie’s script. I’ve also been having conversations with the gun loving people in my life- asking them not to believe the frenzy of “they’re trying to take our guns” asking them to call their reps if they support background checks etc.
Treasure: We talk about all bodies being good bodies no matter what size, color, shape a lot in our house. This week my 6yo told me she wants to make movies with characters with all different kinds of bodies when she grows up. It gives me hope that she’ll have a kind of self-love and acceptance I had to work for because of the toxic stuff I heard from my mom growing up. Parenting win!!
