Hello everyone. Welcome to this weekās edition of Lil Treasures. I donāt have much in the tank other than a whole lot of rage, so Iām going to leave it to the treasures + tweets to make up for that this week. Between the SBC report and the school shooting in Uvalde (and the response from people at both) I am NOT FEELING GREAT about things.
If you are in the same boat as me, I would implore you to take some time over the next few days (in between contacting your government officials, of course) to take care of yourself and your emotions.
Whatever self-care options work best for you, put them in practice and make sure your head doesnāt stay in the dark. And if you have your own self-care treasures or tips, leave those in the comments!
Speaking of treasures, letās go!
š· I met Laura Beth Davidson at the Lazy Genius launch party (where she took these amazing photos) and begged her to come to Birmingham to snap some photojournalism-type pics for my family. She complied and I am so delighted! If you are local to Birmingham and have been hoping to get some new photos taken, may I present you with a golden opportunity? Laura Beth will be in town from June 24-26 and the Moon family is not going to hog all 3 days. If youāre free that weekend and need some new photos taken, send her an email at hello@laurabethdavidson.com!
ā¤ļø Reddit can be a fascinating place and simultaneously a giant scary hole. Katie Crenshaw did us all a service and pulled together some recent Reddit highlights and I really enjoyed reading through them!
š This article in The Atlantic written after the Robb Elementary shooting this past week is extremely sobering. It was an absolutely horrific event, and claimed the lives of innocent children who were just trying to finish out the last couple of weeks of school. There is so much grief there but also so much anger, because these tragedies could be preventable with greater restrictions placed on owning and purchasing guns. If you want to become more educated on some of these changes, this helpful thread on Instagram by designmom lists out a few ways we can improve our gun regulations as as country. And as always, please donāt forget to contact your senators and representatives about these issues! Feel unsure of what to say? Iāve included my friend Jamieās suggestion below! (Iāve also linked the ways you can find your respective government officials)
ā¾ I want the confidence and finesse of this baseball all-star during his walkout song.
šTaco Bellās Mexican pizza is finally back and even Dolly Parton is endorsing this delicacy! Have you had one yet since theyāve graced us once again with their cheesy presence? Let me know in the comments.

In light of the SBC report that was released this past Sunday:
This week has been tough, but Iām still so glad youāre here. Hoping your holiday weekends are filled with as much of the new Harry Styles as you can take and all the barbecued meats! Bye!
Yāall. My work involves the community of Uvalde and I was there yesterday. PLEASE DO NOT send donated items! Funds only. I had to give words to local leaders to help them be able to say NO to the burden of donated items. Donating THINGS requires a capacity the community does not have right now. Pray, call your elected officials or donate money/blood. Thank you. That is all.
Hello to my secret society of kind internet friends! Itās been a staggeringly difficult time. I move S L O W L Y through grief and process things in batches of time (if that makes sense), but I told myself this is the week I take actionable steps, I do the things, write the emails, make the calls. Hereās my additional stream of consciousness takes for Life Right Now:
1. My family attended 2 independent, fundamental, legalistic Baptist churches (definitely to the point of being a cult-like experience) when I was 11-15, and it was by far the most damaging influence on my momās parenting EVER. Such an awful experience during those tender, formative years. This report breaks my heart and pisses me off, and my initial reaction was honestly āOf course.ā Ugh. I have met so many other women who grew up in a similar situation.
2. Iām in the process of job searching (I am currently employed, thanks be to God, but the company sold off most of its brands so YIKES and the writing is on the wall for the brands I work for) and I just had a killer interview last week that I am desperately hoping and praying will result in a sparkly shiny brand new job! So ts and ps, yāall.
3. We wonāt be venturing too far from home this summer (gas prices š³š©š¤¬š¤®) but Iām actually super pumped about the small trips we have planned locally and canāt wait to check some state parks off our bucket list. Sometimes exploring your own backyard (so to speak) is The Best.
Well, thatāll do. Love and peace to all.
