📓Lil Treasures #133: Bottle Flips and Emotional Support Notebooks
Plus magical sunscreen and pandemi snacking.
Hello friends. The internet has been extra dark this week, and that mixed with dealing with *gestures wildly* alllllll the annoyances and insurmountable costs that come with being a homeowner, I am spent. It is officially July and it’s hot everywhere and I am finding solace in videos like of this cutie bear below. If I’m going to live in a place that experiences 80% humidity on a regular basis, this is how I want to spend my days 🐻
I also came across this tweet the other day and I relate to this perfectly:

I ate a lot of snacks (cheese) during the pandemic. I mean I still am, to be fair. Do I have issues digesting dairy from time to time? Yes. But is eating the cheese worth the troubles? Also yes.
I’m driving my kids 10+ hours to Texas camp today, so y’all say a prayer for me. We’re going to spend this 4th of July weekend the proper way, riding in a small West Texas Independence Day parade and stuffing ourselves full of funnel cakes. I hope your holiday weekend is equally as special!
Shall we do some treasures?
👩💻One of my favorites Kristin Du Mez wrote this fantastic piece in her newsletter this week. Well-worth the read!
🙌 I desperately want a hype squad like this bottle flip champion.
❗The internet has been on fire the last couple of weeks, mostly in the worst ways. A lot of times the good stuff gets lost in all of the trash chaos, but thankfully I didn’t miss this very important thread by Christina Edmondson.
🥪 May I present yet another culinary winner from Half Baked Harvest in the form of these Italian pub sliders.
🧴One of the MVPs of my summer skincare has been this SuperGoop "unseen sunscreen". It’s so light and non-streaky and I love it.
🍸 My friend Bri McKoy is a kitchen genius and posts some really great food+drink content, but don’t miss her post from earlier this week about nuance. So freaking good.
Best of Twitter this week:

Okay guys, I’m off to drive across a whole lot of nothing on I-20!
I’m going to need your delightful treasures when I get back, so please don’t forget to leave them in the comments. Enjoy your holiday weekend! 💙
Good morning!
🥂 MY HUSBAND GOT A NEW JOB WITH CUROLOGY THAT HE HAD WANTED SO BADLY 😭 It’s a good salary increase and better benefits and all around seems like it will be a better fit for him. I am so happy for him and proud.
🥐 It was also my husband’s 25th birthday on Wednesday, and he requested homemade croissants. I obliged, and I have never been more proud of a bake. Ever. They were so flakey.
🛌 My coworker, who is an angel sent from heaven, is volunteering with the Catholic Community Services in SLC to help a family from Afghanistan settle into Salt Lake. The father helped the US Army during the war, and they couldn’t get out before August, so they spent almost a year fleeing the Taliban. They’re finally here and safe but they’re starting from scratch, and they really need bunk beds. I already put the need in the We Got You Club, but if you want to donate to buying some bunk beds, you can venmo @Kathryn-Ramirez-10 and let her know what the money is for in the description. Any extra money she gets she’s going to use to purchase things off their Amazon wishlist, but there is 2 parents with 3 kids and one on the way and bunk beds for everyone to sleep on are the first priority.
🌎 Bri Mckoy’s post about nuance was wonderful. Jamie’s stories about choice were wonderful. I just can’t stop thinking about a news clip I saw where a news anchor talked about people marching at the capital and it cut immediately to a woman, maybe in her 50’s/60’s, protesting, saying, “Why the freak am I back here doing this”. I share her sentiment. Why the freak are we back here, doing this.
That’s all for me so far. Cant wait to see everyone else’s treasures!
Good morning friends!
💒 We're finally attempting to find a church here. I made a list of all the affirming churches in our area (spoiler: it's not many), and we've visited two so far. The problem is that they're all tiny and Zach and I are both introverts (at least in new situations), and it's very intimidating to walk in and know that everyone there knows we're new.
💇♀️ I cut my hair this week and it is maybe the best haircut I've ever had?
🥗 I made this salad from Half-Baked Harvest (of course), and it was incredible! https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/summer-chicken-salad/
🏢 Only Murders in the Building is back and it's SO GOOD already!!!
🎆 We're going up to see my brother and sister in law and our nephew this weekend! It's been too long and I can't wait!
Hope you all have the best weekend available!
