My friends. My beautiful friends. You can’t tell me ANYTHING today because my kids started back to school this week and I feel my powers returning. She’s back in a routine. She’s Lexapro-ed. She’s watching TWO TV shows. She made a meal plan and stuck with it. She’s discovered these oversized boyfriend button-downs. Is there functional chaos all around? Yes. Are we bothered? Not this week, my friends. Not this week.
And so, in honor of these small people returning to structure, it’s Q+A Week. On the Swipe Up+, we talked about parenting after purity culture (like…what DO we want our kids to know about sex?), mom guilt, and disappointing people. Here’s an exerpt:
But what I discovered is that a person who is so disappointed in me for making a change that it would trash our relationship are not people who loved me, but people who loved when my choices served them.
If you’d like to join us in the Swipe Up+, just click below to get started. And as usual, if a subscription isn’t in the budget, we’d love to give you one for free dollars. Just email hello@erinhmoon.com and we’ll get it taken care of, no questions asked.
But I did save some Qs to be Aed here on Lil Treasures, so buckle up, ‘cause we’re going in: rapid fire style.
Q: What’s one viral video that leaves you in tears you’re laughing so hard? — @wavesbythewater
A: It’s definitely this absolutely bonkers music video.
Q: What’s your go-to mantra when it comes to mothering? I need a phrase to repeat to myself. — @_em_possible
A: When I was actively working with Mary Van Geffen, she had me repeat to myself “I am the conductor of peace in my home.” every time I walked into my house. I still do it!
Q: Best way you’ve learned to navigate preteen hormones/angst/in-between stage? — @_vickiehogan_
A: Take almost nothing personally. Become unoffendable.
Q: What do you wish you knew when you were 24? — @shelbihan
A: Wear sunscreen daily. Quit wishing you were at the next stage of life (impossible, I know). Screw up. Try new things. Travel.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this fall? — @troxellr
A: The return of Erin Moon, Sports Mom.
Q: Are you a planner user? I need one for mom life and working from home and its all overwhelming. — @mirmade85
A: I use the Get to Work Book and it’s the only planner I’ve ever been consistent with!
I got a lot of questions this time, so I may do a part two next week, yes?
Okay, let’s do the treasures!
⚾ Get your tissues ready, because this grandpa/grandson baseball moment will put you in your feels 🤧
🌽This hilarious child talking about his love for corn is my video comfort blanket of the week. How I feel after watching it:
🖥️ Anne Helen Peterson, an excellent writer who has done extensive research on work culture, published this article about women working from home. If you are a woman who has spent any time in that WFH culture, make sure you give it a read!
📘I am so jazzed about Shannon K Evans’s new book Feminist Prayers for My Daughter which is set to release in early 2023. You can find out more about it and pre-order your copy here! I loved Shannon’s book Rewilding Motherhood as well.
💁♀️Five stars to this video of potential smash hits from the Bible.
🎭 To all my now-grown theatre kids who have their own children now, may we leave this kind of legacy.
🎁 Many thanks to those of you who took the Lil Swipes survey and gave us your brilliant thoughts! We love to use your insight to help us notice the blind spots and to improve this space for you to continue to enjoy. We had almost two thousand responses come through, which is truly amazing!
And so without further adieu, the two winners for the Amazon gift card giveaway are…….burgessbunch4@gmail.com and baileyonealpr@gmail.com! Send us an email at hello@erinhmoon.com and we will help you claim your prize!
💃Last treasure for the week is this Denzel + Break My Soul mash-up. The internet contains multitudes.

Have one heck of a weekend, pals! Looking forward to reading your treasures!
Hi friends!
Bad news first, I just went to the dermatologist and I have a mole on my foot that needs to be removed. They said it's not cancerous, but I have to go to a surgeon and everything and boy am I stressed! (I don't deal well with basically anything medical)
The teens are back at the library! (our branch is between a high school and a middle school, so we get a lot of kids waiting for rides/afterschool activities). I've had some good conversations with them already and my heart is so full!
I finally started What We Do in the Shadows and I think I like it? It's just very different from what I usually watch.
Hope you all have the best weekend available!
Happy Friday friends!
We've got Robotics Club this afternoon and it's the last week before college students descend on the town, but I'm ready for their energy and for the school year to start. Plus, the weather right now at 7:38 in the morning is a crisp 51º and I'm LOVING it so so much.
Treasures:
~ Laura Tremaine posted about internet friends, and the comment section was so lovely. Shelby, Melanie, Marley, Jillian, and ALL OF YOU - y'all are the very best https://www.instagram.com/p/ChIx7kpvZZp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
~ Destini posts SUCH good parenting tips "Your anger is here to tell you something" https://www.instagram.com/reel/CcQ11GrOP4q/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
~ Starting a reread of both The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and My Lady Jane to prep for Book Club this month and next month, anyone else LOVE these books?
~ Making this for dinner tonight, how delicious does crispy halloumi sound?! https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/chili-crisp-peanut-noodles/
~ My baby sister is moving into her first college apartment today - what advice would you give her (or a 20 year old you)?
My weekend is going to consist of reveling in the cooler weather, baking, and watching Zombies 2 (because I watched the first one and am now obsessed). Also, probably, a lot of Pokemon, because that's what my kids are into now I guess? Happy weekend friends!
