👑 Lil Treasures #143: The Man Queen and a Christmas Pinecone
We're talking Spit-Gate and imaginary football teams
Hello!
Welcome to this week’s edition of Lil Treasures! Not much to say today, it’s been quite an eventful couple of days. I’ve been deep in the throes of the internet after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She was the longest-reigning British monarch, and although there were some problematic things about her reign, she certainly held herself with lots of class. RIP, Lilibet.
I’m also additionally sad to accept the reality that Charles has now taken her place! Just. So unsettling. I’ve definitely been caught up in somberness of it all and also doing a lot of internet royal family deep dives, anyone else? Lots going ‘round on the internet this week to keep us all distracted for a while. Make sure you don’t get too in the weeds out there, guys!
Here are this week’s treasures:
🍿Snacks are one of my passions in this life. My pal Bri McKoy just released a guide dedicated to the subject matter with ideas and recipes, perfect for you to use when you signed up to bring that snack to your tailgate party or book club meeting this fall! You can get your copy of the Snack The Snack eBook here.
💸If you’ve been following Dave Ramsey at all these last couple of years, don’t miss this deposition that was just released from last year with some pretty character- damning statements included.
🫖Listen, if you haven’t been sucked in to the drama that encompasses the new movie Don’t Worry Darling, I tip my hat to you. I have been unintentionally pulled in and now there is no return. Do a bit of Googling and you will have so. many. questions. We talked about Harry Styles Spit-Gate and all things Miss Flo-related on The More You Know this week if you to dive into the tea!

🖼️The official White House gallery portraits of former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were just unveiled this week! They are for sure very nice but the best part of the whole thing was Barack’s glowing review of Sharon Sprung, who painted Michelle:

🌈For anyone who’s looking for more LGBTQ+ affirming resources to add to your reading list, don’t miss this article from Walter Brueggemann about how to read the bible on homosexuality.
Lots of Tweets this week! Let’s go!

Thanks for being here, friends! Hope you have a stellar weekend and all the teams in your life win. Looking forward to reading all your treasures from this week 🫶
🎄 I can affirm that Chris Pine’s real name is Christmas Pinecone. After all, I named my Christmas tree after him years ago.
😵💫 I still want to watch Don’t Worry Darling, even though I know it will probably be the suburban white lady version of Get Out.
👩🏼💻 Work has started to pick up some again and I’m very grateful about that. Things were getting slow for a while.
🗣 Heather Thompson Day is totally right in that tweet, life doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger and learn how to strategize better, and I’m working on doing that right now. On the one hand, I feel bad about not sharing as much about my life as I used to, but on the other hand, this is a surprisingly tender season of my life and I want to protect it.
📖 I look forward to all of your treasures!
Happy Friday Friends!
I really want that Parent Trap movie - but Lisa Ann Walter still needs to play Chessy please and thank you.
Ok, I have to tell this story. We've been slowly looking into churches in our area, and were invited to attend one last weekend by a family we had gotten together with a few times for playdates. And what an experience. It is a charismatic church, but we didn't know that, and I don't think they broadcast that, so. It was loud. Worship went on for a very long time, and there were people having experiences in front of us that we did not expect. The entire time, I had a polite smile pasted to my face, but inside I was majorly overstimluated, and trying to keep it together, not wanting to romp on anyone's ding dong. My background is in attending a United Methodist church, where we kept the service to a tiiiiight 60-70 minutes so we can get out, go eat food, and fellowship. This service was well over 2 hours. Needless to say, for our first time back to in-person church in over 4 years, it was memorable.
Treasures:
~ We are deep into Pokemon everything over here, with my oldest playing my husband's old Pokemon Blue. If anyone happens to have a game manual they aren't using, we could use some help figuring out how to get into Vermillion Gym lol
~ Picked 33 pounds of apples in the rain with my middle child (the rest of the family stayed in the farm store) and I've made fritters and applesauce, what else should I make?
~ The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is going to be a movie. If y'all read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - same author. The book is super sweet, and the trailer looks cute too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dDTHI67SLk
Football is back, the weather is cooling down, and I made chicken and wild rice soup this week, so despite that unexpected experience last weekend, we are all ok over here (and trying out a DIFFERENT church this weekend!). Hugs friends!
