🛩️ Lil Treasures #145: Marshawn Lynch and Babies Who Have an Appetite for Airplanes
Plus Thicc Dads Who Vape for Christ
Hey friends,
Happy Fall, I guess! It’s been in the mid 90’s this week in Alabama and let me just tell you, warm pumpkin bread hits differently when you’re covered in sweat. Besides that, this has been quite an eventful week. Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest! Adnan Sayed was released from prison! Adam Levine was exposed as a scumbag! People are cooking chicken in NyQuil!
I did get a chance to watch some of the coverage of the royal funeral, did you? A lot of it made me emotional, but the thing that completely did me in was the late Queen’s loyal piper 🥹 Here’s him playing a lament if you missed it:
I’m all for a sentimental ballad though, to be fair. Which excites me for the fall, because soon enough I’ll be absolutely plowing my way through my favorite fall ballads. Folklore? Patty Griffin? The Oh Hellos? Inject that energy into my veins when it’s a misty day where the leaves look all golden-y! Do you have special fall music that you listen to when the seasons change? If so, please share yours in the comments!
Let’s get to those treasures:
🦃 I wish Marshawn Lynch was still playing football because this video makes me love him.
👑This is some of the best commentary I’ve seen so far from the coverage of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral this past week.
✝️I have the honor at speaking at this year’s Evolving Faith Conference and I am trying my hardest to be super chill about it. This year’s conference is happening October 14-15 and is completely virtual, so you can join in your pajamas if you want to be a part! You can click here to learn more about the conference and the other speakers and artists who will be a part (still so bizarre to see my face in lineup).
🍛I’m not gonna lie, the Moon family schedule is a bit inflated these days so the LG’s post about How to Fix Dinner When You’re Never Home showered me with hope.
This week in the Lil Swipes+ Co-op we discussed the topic of struggling with a changing faith (especially in how we relate to others around us who may not be struggling). I’d love for you to come hang behind the paywall if that’s something that piques your interest! Only $6 a month which is now cheaper than a meal from Chick Fil A! A steal!
📕I’m so excited to read the new book by Natasha Sistrunk Robinson, Voices of Lament: Reflections on Brokenness and Hope in a World Longing for Justice. It’s written by 29 different women of color and walks through Psalm 37, guiding readers from a place of darkness into hope and light. I think it will be one of the most important books of this year. If you’ve read it, let me know in the comments!
So many good Tweets this week!

We all need this thread:

That’s it for this week! Don’t forget to share your treasures in the comments!
👏🏽Can I tell y’all the biggest treasure ever!? After battling two cancers this last year, I had a full body CT this week and it. was. clear. Gone. 🥹 Cancer is Iike getting caught in a rip tide, seeing the shore, and never making it to shore. Waves of mercy brought me on shore. I’m exhausted, but will make it to my son’s wedding, will watch my daughters finish college, will travel with my man and kiss him forever. Lots of scans to go, but today we celebrate.
My fall music would be my “Library” playlist which is a mixture of film scores like Little Women, Pride & Prejudice, You’ve Got Mail, etc. 🍂🍂🍂
