🦀Lil Treasures #170: King David and Teaching Crabs how to Read
We're talking about streaming services and The Oscars
Happy St. Patty’s Day!🍀
This has been a strange week for me, so I’m going to keep this intro short and sweet. I hope you all have the most lovely weekend! Who is going on spring break next week? If so, may your pollen be minimal and your childcare options be plentiful.
Not to worry, I’ve got lots of treasures for you to make up for this brief start!
This week’s fun treasures:
🫀Kat Armas wrote one of my favorite books (Abuelita Faith) and is now in the process of publishing her second book, a devotional called Sacred Belonging: A 40 Day Devotional on the Liberating Heart of Scripture. I smashed my pre-order button so fast when I saw her announcement! The book will be out this September but you can go ahead and get yours reserved on Amazon at this link.
🤷🏽♀️Loved this post about doubt and spiritual uncertainty from Black Liturgies. So often we are told doubt is a “threat” to our faith, and these words do a good job of debunking that thought process.
🐋My beloved Brendan Fraser won an Oscar this past Sunday for his role in The Whale and although he is an amazing actor and a truly kind person, I would also like to take partial credit for manifesting his comeback.
If you need a reason to love him today, read this article in the Hollywood Authentic and let yourself be swayed. Also I freaking love this clip of Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan after they both won an Oscar:
🛀
is a hilarious writer who often takes a spin at issues at the forefront of Christian Twitter and this satirical piece about King David really got me.🚪If you’ve ever asked the question, “Why are people leaving Christianity?” (I think we all have at some point in the last few years), this article presents some helpful data of reasons why.

Alright my beautiful flowers, thanks for tuning in to this week’s newsletter. I am grateful for your presence and so excited to read your treasures & turds in the comments. They are always a delight and so are you!
Happy Friday, friends!
We got back from Italy late Tuesday night, and I'm almost over the jet lag just in time to go back to work today.
Italy was incredible and we had the best time. We spent two weeks in Rome, Florence, and Venice (with side trips to Pompeii, Naples, and Pisa), which looking back is kind of a lot but seemed completely reasonable at the time! We had gelato every single day even though it was freezing, walked at least 20,000 steps every day, and fully leaned into being cliche tourists. It was a blast and long enough that I was happy to come home and back to my normal routine.
I'm in Detroit! Everything went smoothly last weekend and Caleb and I made it safely to Detroit. Miraculously there was very little traffic and almost zero road construction on the drive!!
💇♀️. I cut my hair! I was so ready to have shoulder length hair again, but we tried something new and for the first time I have bangs. It's taking a bit of getting used to, but I really like it!
📚 I finally got to see my new library and I will officially start Monday!
🛒 I've been a long time Korean Englishman/Jolly fan so being able to take a trip to H Mart this week was really fun. I'm excited to explore all the cool food here.
🎨 My SIL Anna is off today, so we're heading to the Art Museum and then to lunch!
Have a wonderful weekend friends
