☕Lil Treasures #191: Boyfriends and Babyccinos
We're talking deviled eggs, new insults for your rolodex and a book you should check out!
Hello and welcome to Friday! I’m so glad you are here.
I dropped my kids off for their first day back at school yesterday, and officially made it through the emotional terror that is letting your baby child exit the car for their first day of kindergarten.
But in better, less sobb-y news, we are back on that structure bus, baby! And I for one am thrilled.
Do you love the shift that the school year brings, or does the summer coming to an end make your spirit crumble? I know we have lots of different personalities among this little tribe, but would love to hear your thoughts! If you have things that help your people transition or end-of-the-summer traditions, I want to hear those too.
Jumping straight to the treasures:
⛽The Real Ones by David Gate is a celebration of the people in your life who have stuck beside you and cheered you on through the weirdest phases and longest seasons. Share it with all the members of your hype squad! Also, David also made this one into a print that you can purchase, if you’re looking for gift ideas…
🍹If this isn't an accurate depiction of girls brunch in your 30’s (or 40’s)! Absolutely spot on.
🥔For my next big birthday, I think I’ve decided I want a mashed potato mini bar like this.. Also any engaged folks out there, take note for your future reception needs! No one hates a buffet of mashed potatoes with all the fixins!
☕This tiny distinguished gentleman drinking his babyccino is exactly what I needed this week.
📘One of my favorite authors and writer over at
, Kayla Craig, has a new book coming out this fall! If you’re a parent and have been looking for a guide for you AND your family to go through together, make sure to get your hands on a copy of Every Season Sacred! It’s an incredible resource for families, and gives readers a very beautiful yet realistic outlook on everyday life with reflections, prayers, and invitations to nourish your soul and your family’s soul throughout the year. The book is officially out September 19th, but if you pre-order now, you’ll also get some cool perks like 100 (non-cheesy) conversation cards to share with your fam, a set of daily family liturgies (think morning, noon, meals, night, bedtime); four extensively-researched seasonal playlists with fantastic folksy-vibe music; and a digital version of the first three chapters. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy of the book and also gave it a glowing endorsement, and I’m so excited for all of you to get to explore Every Season Sacred with your families!💛This video of a daughter taking her dad to see a Coldplay concert warmed my little heart.
🥚In this week’s edition of things I came across during my evening social scrolls, this recipe for mexican street corn deviled eggs looks delightful! We love a good deviled egg in the Moon fam.
🎭Theatre kids will know the power that a good balcony has over us.
Okay, let’s do the tweets!
Check the comments below for some more treasures + turds from your fellow Lil Swipes before you go, and also make sure to circle back next week for some fun lil news about what’s coming this fall. See you next time!
I have homeschooled our daughters since kinder but this year they're going to public school. Our first day is Wednesday. It's a big transition for all of us, but we're mostly excited. Tbh, I don't know what range of emotions I'll experience at drop off next week!
I live for the school year. Structure, routine. I get to go back to my actual office and not work from home whilst shuffling kids to and fro and refereeing fights. Yesterday was our first full day of school (we had a half day/meet the teacher day on Wednesday) and I only forgot one kid’s water bottle. I’ll call that a win!
Got my colonoscopy scheduled. Hello 45!
So, I guess you could say things are looking up. 😂 Bama Rush season 3 begins tomorrow and this middle aged GDI cannot wait. 🤷🏻♀️
Anywho, Erin, I feel you on the whole baby going to kindergarten sitch. I cried when I registered my oldest for kindergarten. I thought, how can he be ready?! He’s still a wee baby. Well, turns out, he was ready and is now 13 and in the 8th grade. My actual baby, I was like, please enjoy kindergarten, sir. He cried when I dropped him off. 😂
Hope everyone had a fantastic school year and doesn’t have to scan too many QR codes. I’m already up to 2 at this point.
