🍰Lil Treasures #207: Zero FOMO and The Cheesecake Factory
Guitar Hero, smashed potatoes and Anthony Hopkins dancing the Rumba
Hello there, party people! 🪩
We did it! We made it to Friday once again, hopefully still in tact.
I’ve got a bounty of treasures up my sleeve for you this week but first, in case you missed it, last night we had the most delightful conversation with Kelley Nikondeha discussing her beautiful book, The First Advent in Palestine. If you weren’t able to join us (I know these days are crazier than normal), you can still listen to a recording or see a transcript of the conversation at this link!
Without further ado, this week’s treasures:
🚙 If you’re curious where all the cool elder millennials hang out, you can find us here.
🥔 Can you marry a recipe? Because I think I want to marry this recipe for Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Smashed Potatoes. I saw a reel for the 12 days of potatoes (after the 12 Days of Christmas) and I feel like this one should have made that list 🤤
👶 I could cry at these grandparents meeting their granddaughter for the first time. The grandmas swooning! The grandfather sobbing! So wonderfully wholesome.
🍪 We started a new series on Faith Adjacent called ‘Who the Hell Is…” and I had so much fun digging in to the first episode in this installment all about Lottie Moon. She’s a Christmas icon and if you’ve grown up in church, no doubt you’ve given to an offering dedicated to her. But why was she so popular? Listen to the new episode to find out more about Lottie and decide if you want her face tattooed on your arm in dedication of her feminist legacy.
🍰 This one’s for all my Cheesecake Factory haters, you know who you are. I wish you the best in your journey to be better than me, I will enjoy mine with my 500 page menu and belly full of cheesecake. Xoxo.
☕ I love a good group text explosion when a new detail in a situation comes to light.
👪 I loved this post about family non-negotiables by a child psychologist. First, these are super helpful. Second, it prompted me to take the time to come up with my own family’s non-negotiables. If you have some for your own family, I’d love to hear them the comments!
✉️ Like all of us, my algorithm is filled with random and very niche subjects, one of those being Jane Austen-related content. Which is why I loved stumbling upon this video of Jane Austen reading hate mail on my daily scroll.
❤️🩹 We are smack-dab in the middle of the holidays, and for some people this time of year brings more grief than it does joy. If you have people in your life who are walking through a difficult season and you’re not sure how to help, make sure to read these 5 tips to support someone grieving.
🍽️ Welcome to my house at dinner time trying to hype up a daughter or two to come to the table. It’s a work of art.
🕺 To round out the treasures, please enjoy this video of Anthony Hopkins dancing the Rumba!

Thanks for tuning in to this week’s newsletter! Your presence in this community is a daily dose of goodness in my life. Don’t forget to let us know your treasures for the week in the comments. See you next time!
A few non-negotiables for our family.....
#1 Always tell the truth & own up to when you've made a mistake. Lying about it just makes it worse.
#2 People over technology - every time. If a friend comes over and invites you to play, you put down the Nintendo and go outside and play with your friend.
#3 Experiences over things - Spending time together is more important than stuff.
#4 Wear whatever you like - your style is your style - EXCEPT when it's not appropriate for the weather or breaks school dress code - so when I tell you to put a coat on, put on the dang coat - it's 29 degrees outside!
#5 Always answer mom & dad's texts/phone calls in a timely manner. ALWAYS.
Love you all, but could you stop saying “the church” when you mean “Baptists.” I promise you I am in the church, and so are all the other Lutherans, Methodists, Catholics, etc out here who are not Baptist or Evangelical.
