Hello and happy Friday!
We meet again for another roundup of the internet’s finest links & memes. This week we celebrated President’s Day, but I saw this tweet below and think we should’ve also had another national holiday on the calendar:
I was browsing through last week’s comments a couple of days ago, and was reminded once again how wonderful this lil community is. What a beautiful space full of kind people! Thank you for being willing to share your highs and lows with us each week, and letting us all enjoy your presence in the comments.
Can’t wait to read what’s on your minds this week! If you’re new here, feel free to introduce yourself and share your own treasures.
Okay, let’s jump in to this week’s treasures!
🔥 The internet is full of hot takes, and it’s so easy to hitch your wagon to the next big spicy opinion or reaction. It can also lead to a lot of confusion, and can create online habits that can be harmful to your brain. This post was particularly helpful in showing how we are living in an era of hot takes with limited hot action attached.
🍩 The sweetest thing I’ve seen all week was these older parents and their pre-road trip doughnuts.
🦇 Listen, this book review of ACOTAR (A Court of Thrones and Roses) was absolutely perfect. Bravo, review person!
💝 Parenting a teen? I really liked this helpful thread about the internal struggles in teenagers and how this often manifests as laziness. There are lots of other things they could actually be feeling instead of lazy, and ways we can help support them. All ideas in the thread, fellow parents. We can do this.
🛁 If you are looking to add some cozy cute updates to your bathroom, check out these bougie bathroom upgrades. You can shop them all on Amazon!
🩰 The internet continues to produce golden content as a result of Beyonce’s album drop, including these gorgina black ballerinas who are taking her country tunes for a graceful twirl.
👖 Capri pants are coming back. The audacity I feel even typing that sentence!! This is what I need to tell this generation when it comes to this idea.
🔐 On this week’s episode of Faith Adjacent, I got to talk with Meredith Anne Miller for a special episode of “I Kid You Not” all about the question: If Not Purity Culture, Then What? If you grew up in the age of purity culture and are trying to figure out how to navigate these conversations with your own kids, this episode is for you.
🛌 Going to utilize this bedtime ritual with my daughters henceforth.
Give it up for this week’s memes! 👏
Alright folks, time to bring this newsletter to a close. Let me know if you have any cool new recipes I should try, or if you’re joining Gen Z in their choice of capri pants living. I’ll see you in the comments! Ciao!
The only reason I'm happy about capris coming back is that I'm very short so they tend to hit me at the perfect length as regular long pants should instead of having an extra 9 inches of fabric I either have to hem or roll up or let drag on the ground like a shaggy animal. LOL
👖It’s absolutely a “No.” for me on capris. Been there, done that, have the horrible picture evidence to back it up. 😅 But if they work for you, take advantage of the renewed interest and stock up! I feel like I panic-bought too many pairs of skinnies when “the kids” started trying to take those away from me, ha!
🍩Donuts always win. Always.
☀️Anyone else trying to hang on for just a few more weeks while they wait for their seasonal depression to subside? I haven’t felt “well” since Christmas, but February hit hard and I’ve been a mess this whole month. Sigh, I just want the sun back…
