🪦 Lil Treasures #219: Matching Track Suits and A Person Garden
We're talking Paw Patrol, jalapeño rolls and severely misplaced confidence
Well hello there, Lil Swipes!
So glad you’re back for another week of treasures + turds. Let’s jump in!
Here are this week’s treasures:
💨 One of my goals for this season of my life is to practice slowing down. This is very hard for me, a person who is obsessed with efficiency. I really appreciated and was convicted by this post by Nora Mclnerny talking about savoring the slowness.
🤸♀️ In honor of Leap Day yesterday, this week on Faith Adjacent we hosted the Leap of Faith Hall of Fame with the one and only
. You can listen to the episode at this link or wherever your pods!🌶 You all mean so much to me so I won’t gatekeep this recipe for salted honey butter jalapeño rolls from Half-Baked Harvest. Absolutely life-changing!
🏃 One of my favorite pictures of good humanity is when random people champion a cause just for the heck of it, which is why I loved this train of people cheering on a guy with a big mission.
💋 This poem by Katy Luxem is so lovely, especially if you’re a woman and even more so if you’re a mother.
⚽ The cast of Ted Lasso showed up in matching track suits to the SAG afterparty this past week and looked like they had the best time! I feel like they are a very good hang.
❤️🩹 There have been a few different times in my life where I have questioned God’s goodness, questioned if He really cares about me. Laura Wifler, a mother of a child with intellectual disabilities, posted this story and helped remind me that He does, in fact, care about me (and you).
💄 If you have a ten year old daughter or spend any amount of time around one, this is your reality.
🫶 Here’s a little reminder to keep going if you need the boost today! Feelings are temporary - and thank goodness for that.
Can’t forget about the memes!
Alright, pals, we did it! Thanks for tuning in to yet another week of Lil Treasures. You’re my favorites and I can’t wait to see what treasures you shining stars come up with in the comments. Bye!
For some reason, I didn't get to this on Friday. I usually settle into my office with a coffee and pull it up first thing. The timing of me not getting to this until today is a nod from the universe. I kind of fell apart, came undone at the seams on Sunday night, and it spilled into yesterday as well. I spent my whole day at work yesterday hiding in my office and crying. It was a lot of things coming together and my overwhelmed, lying brain telling me that I'm not good enough, that the people who say they love me are lying, etc. I had a good sobfest with my husband last night, ate several bowls of cereal, cuddled with my husband while we watched Fargo, and went to bed early. I'm feeling better today, but the darkness is still lingering. I've been uneasy and scared that my depression is coming back, that this feeling will linger too long.
The little reminder that feelings are temporary is exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. Thank you for sharing that, Erin. It's now the wallpaper on my phone so that I don't forget.
Don't mind me tearing up from Laura Wilfer's post... This week has been a strange combination of feeling stronger as my vitamin D level gets back to normal and feeling depressed because spring is so close but too far away! However, here are my treasures.
-Why have I never noticed the joy that is the SEC women's college gymnastics? The LSU team is especially a delight!
-Noticing the importance of play in my life. I tend to be more contemplative and introspective so getting into my body through movement is important lately. Last night my mom and I knitted and played checkers. I felt like I was living my best grandma life (I'm 29).
-Getting our seeds in the mail from Seed Savers Exchange! We ordered a cut flower garden packet and I am so excited to see how both the ones that we will sow indoors and the ones that we will direct sow do.
Excited to catch up with you all in the comments! Have the best weekend available to you!
