🌷Lil Treasures #220: Fake Spring and a Pet Skunk
Plus sharing fries with strangers, new math and celebrating women
Happy International Women’s Month to all the ladies! And may you continue to gracefully shatter all the stereotypes in your path. Or may you continue to enjoy living in soft pants. We contain multitudes.
Friends, I confess to being tired as hell. I am, as Frodo once woefully mused, like butter scraped over too much bread. I am unsure if Mercury is in the microwave or it’s Spring Fever or an election year or perimenopause, but everything feels unhinged in an uncool way. I got Baby’s First UTI this week (you were all right, it does feel like you’re dying), I sent the most pathetic text message begging for an extension on a deadline, the estrogen levels in the Moon Household are either syncing to become a force heretofore unknown to humankind or we’re all spread out and someone’s gonna be in a bad mood for the rest of our lives. I personally think this is the hardest part of Lent, too: when the season and the weather starts being real un-Lenty.
This week’s treasures are dedicated to you 👸
💍 The absolute dedication (and bravery) of this man who photobombed his girlfriend with her future engagement ring for a month without her knowing. Bravo, my guy!
🌿 I don’t remember who told me to follow Gabriella Huerta Llewellyn, but I absolutely love her IG account. She’s a writer and a podcaster, but really I just love the way she shares her life with her family. The vibes are extremely cozy and chill, but not in a striving, Instagrammy way (don’t even know if that makes sense). This post will really give you a good idea if you’d like following her as well. A lovely addition to the feed.
🤷🏻♀️ Don’t miss the newest episode of Faith Adjacent, where we asked Who the Hell is Clement of Alexandria? Jamie, Evan and I explored all things related to Clement of Alexandria, getting into geography, theology, and even potatoes. Cue up that episode wherever you get your pods!
⛪ I just learned that two lucky son-of-a-guns will get to have a sleepover in St. Paul’s Cathedral secret library next week to celebrate World Book Day. This is now my only bucket list item. WHAT A DREAM. I’m going to London in a few weeks: should I stage a break-in, yes or yes?
😌 In the midst of a crazy season, I am holding tight to this poem about being remembered as a relaxed woman, not an exhausted one. I mean, I’m NOT relaxed, but I want to be. I’ve heard that doesn’t necessarily count, however.
👚 My dear friend Tara over at House Peace is hosting a Closet Peace Bootcamp course on March 21-23 and 25-26! House Peace has personally helped me transform several of my own closets and spaces that were full of chaos into places of order and peace. When Tara comes into my house, she makes me feel like I can breathe again with her organizational wizardry. This course is going to be amazing, and will equip you to be your own organizational wizard in your closets! You can find out more about Closet Peace here.
📈 Does anyone else feel like this when helping with math homework?
🌟 One of my favorite poets,
(you might know her on Instagram as @maryoliversdrunkcousin) has a book of her amazing poems coming out this fall! You can pre-order her book A Bit Much at this link.🎥 Definitely teared up watching the Today Show feature of this (kinda famous) mom who sent in a video to say she was proud of her (kinda famous) daughter. We never get tired of hearing that our parents are proud of us, you know?
🙏 When I am older, I hope to be living my life like some of these legends (scroll through to see the whole thread, especially the one with a pet skunk).
🥹 If you’re familiar at all with the Kelce brothers (they’ve been particularly popular this year), Jason Kelce just officially announced his retirement from the NFL/Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week. His brother Travis may be hot and good at being famous, but Jason genuinely seems like a nice guy and a fun hang. My favorite thing about both brothers is their capacity for emotional vulnerability like Jason Kelce talking about his wife Kylie during his retirement press conference.
🥦 Attention, women over 40! I was very intrigued by this post about a "nursing home prevention program" and the way that fiber can help sustain our bodies and minds.
📧 My disposition every weekend is something like this.
Shall we do the memes?
That’s all for now, my friends! Can’t wait to peruse your treasures and suggestions in the comments. See you next time!
Thank you, I did!
Can we please discuss math homework? I use the app PhotoMath without any shame and it is THE BEST. I explain to my kids that they do math differently now than when I was a kid, and I am learning with them. It seems to work for now. Also, everyone, download PhotoMath. You take a picture of the math problem and it breaks it down for you in steps exactly how to do it.
