🤪 Lil Treasures #256: Party People, Mediocrity, and Stevie Nicks
The sexiest partner is a supportive partner (especially when it's a Woodhall)
Last weekend I went to the P!nk concert (transformative stunning life-changing DNA-rearranging, etc) and the DJ who played (?) a set between Maren Morris and P!nk kept calling everyone “party people.” Frankly, I hadn’t called anyone a party person in a long time, so…
What’s up, party people?
Okay so I do have a fun announcement today. You know how I wrote a book (have you pre-ordered it yet? You should do that because when I announce the pre-order bonuses, you’re absolutely gonna want them and also I think it’s a good book you will like)? Well, guess what? I actually wrote two.
That’s right. There’s a guided journal to go along with I’ve Got Questions, and it’s maybe my favorite part of this whole deal. I LOVE a guided journal for two reasons: 1) I love a guide, a guru, a hand-holder, and 2) I like when that guide is not a person so it can’t see my inner thoughts. Boom. Voila. I’ve Got Questions: Prompts and Practices for Rewilding Your Faith was born.
I’ll be talking more about this in the coming months (due to production schedules, it won’t come out until August of 2025), but you can pre-order it now if you’d like! And this is a pretty good deal right now: 40% off and free shipping from Baker Book House!
Okay enough about that. We’ve got treasures to handle.
🎾 Rafael Nadal announced his retirement this past week and while this alone would normally make me weepy, Roger Federer’s emotional letter to his long-time rival and friend had me in a puddle of my own tears.
💛 An important reminder straight from the mouth of The Lazy Genius: as women, we’re still allowed to be mediocre. Let’s normalize chosen mediocrity from time to time!
📜 Benjamin Cremer continues to write in such a powerful way, especially with these important thoughts on “traditional values”.
🧠 Thank you Ilona Maher for releasing your Beast, Beauty, Brains collection so now I can publicly show my obsession for all to see.
🥾 To all my lady hikers: don't miss these tips for stating your insanity + dominance so you can fend off any creeps out on the trails.
🥹 Tearing up over the beautiful influence that Cynthia Erivo is creating while portraying Elphaba in Wicked.
🥇 Hunter Woodall recently won GQ’s Sexiest Man of the Year as a Supportive Partner and I simply cannot get enough of these two beauties we fell in love with at the Paris Olympics. We love a supportive king!
🍦 Tony Campolo, who was a renowned sociologist, pastor, author, activist and one of the leaders of Red Letter Christians passed away earlier this week. There was an interview with him on the Colbert Report from 2006 that resurfaced, and I still think it’s so relevant and applicable to today (make sure to read the text in the post too, the thing about horse manure + ice cream has stayed with me).
🫶 I need to wrap myself up in this quote from the beloved Fred Rogers.
🎸 A PSA that is not in fact one of those Rumours (don’t hate me for that pun), there’s a new documentary about Fleetwood Mac headed to Apple Films in 2025! The doc will explore the many years of the band’s successes, failures and personal dramas. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but rest assured that Erin Moon WILL BE WATCHIN whenever it comes out. NOTHING was more formative in my life than Fleetwood Mac’s Behind the Music special. NOTHING.
🗳️ Pre-game your family gatherings this week with the newest episode of Faith Adjacent! Tune in to this very lively conversation about whether or not staying in relationship with people who voted differently than you is favored or forsaken.
🐓 Amelia’s recent Chicken Shop Date (hold the chicken) with Elmo shows how she can have chemistry with pretty much anyone/anything.
Alright let’s do the memes!
I can’t get enough of Danielle Coke Balfour
Okay lovelies, that’s all the treasures this week’s newsletter can hold! If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving next week, I hope it is grand. I’ll see you in the comments 👋
The library had a pretty major electrical issue Tues night/Wed am which has resulted in a 3 day closure. Yesterday, I started working on all my thanksgiving break sewing projects and today I'm going to a 10am showing of Wicked!
My first concert with Detroit Women's Chorus is tomorrow! It's been such a fun challenge to get back into choir and learn so much new music.
Last Jan I bought my first full sized tree and a bunch of fun red/pink ornaments. I set it up this week and it's positively magical. I just want twinkle lights everywhere.
Have a restful weekend, friends ❤️
We LOVE a journal 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just texted my mom that there’s an addition to my birthday list :)
