🍞 Lil Treasures #273: Sourdough Bread, Daffodils + Good Trouble
Plus a new essay on vulnerability, as a treat
Welcome to another Friday newsletter! 💥
The times they are indeed a’changing and although it’s NOT GREAT, Ben Moon now makes sourdough bread in his spare time and let me tell you, bread really does make things a little better.
Tell me something good in your life that is keeping you sane! Let me know if you’re baking bread or planting gardens or puzzling it up (my personal fav) to help inject a little serotonin in between processing all of the pressing world news.
I hope these treasures are the treat you needed:
💍 If you’re looking for some warm fuzzies, I’ve got a few for you today, including this proposal video featuring the University of Delaware football team.
🔍 Have you ever uttered the phrase “bless your heart” or prayed a hedge of protection around something? This week’s episode of Faith Adjacent about Decoding Christianese will be right in your ballpark. It was such a fun conversation and I hope you enjoy listening here or wherever you get your pods!
🙏🏾 Going to save this picture of John Lewis and Senator Cory Booker getting into some good trouble as the background on my phone ASAP. I am not going to get over the filibuster for a long, long time.
🎉 If you’re looking for a reason to throw together a night with your friends, take some ideas from these ladies, who host a monthly “Reason to Celebrate” party where they acknowledge something (big or small) good happening for each friend.
💄 I have spent a lot of my life wishing I was a younger version of myself. This poem reminded me of the reasons why that is so silly.
☠️ There’s a new essay over in the Swipe Up+ all about vulnerability and The Fear Behind Toxic Empathy. If you want to read it but aren’t a paid subscriber, send me an email at hello@erinhmoon.com and I’ll hook you up with a free subscription, no questions asked!
🫖 I might be a few years into my 40s but I am constantly reminded just how much I don’t know, especially when it comes to naming what I need. I am still learning good habits and practices to help sustain my energy and overall well-being.
🌼 Let’s take a moment for the daffodils doing their thing right now.
🌱 Feeling hopeless and without a plan in these (mostly) disheartening days? Do yourself a favor and go read The Structure of Hope by Benjamin Cremer.
Can’t forget the memes!
Thanks for reading, you beautiful diamonds! I hope your weekend is full of nice things and I can’t wait to read your treasures in the comments. See you back here again next week!
Both of my sons (21 and 24) are coming home for Easter with their girlfriends and I cannot get over it. I’ve known for a few weeks now and I still get giddy when I think about the seven of us at the table. I am here for this new phase of parenting. Also my 82 year old dad did a 180 on Trump and started baking sourdough, so this is a new phase of daughtering as well.
This clip of Jack Black surprising the one of the castmates from Love on the Spectrum is pure joy. It’s keeping my heart so happy.
