⭐The Hamilton reunion, spicy books + cinnamontography :Lil Treasures #282
Plus, is that a new guided journal I see on the horizon?
Hello, happy Friday to youuuuuu!
I have some happy news to share with your majesties: my book I’ve Got Questions has a guided journal releasing this August! If you enjoyed the book and want a journal companion to help you sift through some of the questions that rose to the surface for you while reading, you can pre-order your copy of the journal now for 40% off + free shipping!
This journal is designed to provide a sort-of roadmap to help as you process through your current relationship with God and the church and the ways your faith journey (drink) have shaped you. There will be some fun pre-order bonuses that will go along with the journal, so stay tuned if you’re interested in hearing about that. I promise not to be obnoxious yapping about the journal, but for today, here’s one more link to pre-order, as a treat!
Questions about the journal? Have some fun-time links, sunscreen recs, or embarrassing stories to share? Drop your gold in the comments below.
OKAY WE HAVE IMPORTANT TREASURES TO ATTEND TO.
🩸 Leslie Odom Jr fundamentally changed me with this performance.
📖 In case you have been wondering what the Bible say about how we should treat immigrants, here are a few examples.
🎾 Carlos Alcaraz took the W for the men at the French Open last weekend and then exercised his right to be a beloved human by celebrating the win with the ball kids.
🎩 From the Hamilton reunion medley to Jonathan Groff being perfect in Just In Time, The Tony Awards were the lil treat we all needed. Here’s a cute roundup of the highlights if you missed it.
📗My friend Mattie Jo Cowsert, who is the author of the recently released God, Sex & Rich People will be at the Tattered Cover Colfax in Denver, CO next Friday (June 20th) for a fun book event! Mattie Jo is a hilarious person and a beautiful writer, and I wish I lived closer so I could be there myself. If you’re a Coloradian, get your tickets for the event at this link!
🥇 Let’s pour one out for Jonathan Bailey today, a man who can truly do it all.
⚠️ This week, immigrants across this country were accused of being and treated like criminals (being undocumented is a civil offense, not a criminal one, fun fact) and our current health secretary decided it was a good idea to clean house and and fire the entire team of vaccine advisors, among the other horrors. If you need some holy whimsical rage to keep you company in the midst of the bad news, go listen to this song from Savannah Locke and read this poem by Loryn Brantz.
🌶️ Come on down for a spicy conversation on the newest Faith Adjacent episode featuring the Favored and Forsaken of June! We’re chatting about important topics like civil disobedience, the book Fourth Wing (and other spicy fiction), and the new animated movie, King of Kings. You can listen to the episode here! Note: this episode also talks about porn, so we would suggest listening without the kiddies for this one.
🦉 PBS has an interesting new show that just came out this week called Wisdom Keepers that asks questions about who we are and where we’re going, and our beloved Father Richard Rohr was featured on the series premiere! Let me know if you got a chance to watch.
🏆 Coco Gauff’s performance at the French Open was absolute perfection.
🥀 In a time where there is constant pressure to provide commentary on every breaking news event, I’ll just be happy to share these funny internet highlights from this past weekend’s Big Beautiful Breakup.
🙏 And as a palate cleanser before we head to the memes, these photos of faith leaders praying in Los Angeles have me believing in and leaning into hope. Also here’s a few ways you can help immigrant families in Los Angeles!
Sadly, we have come to the end of another newsletter. Until next time, friends! Do me (and you) a favor and be gentle with yourselves this weekend, however that looks for you and yours. Anyone attending a No Kings protest? Holler in the comments and see you next time!
God has truly blessed us by giving us both Jonathan Groff and Jonathan Bailey in the same lifetime. I did NOT expect the Keanu cameo in that Tony’s clip - INCREDIBLE. 🥰
I live in my state’s capitol city and am thinking about going to the No Kings protest tomorrow. I’ve never been to a protest before and am trying to psyche up my lil introverted ADHD heart to actually do it. 🙃
Will be at my hometown No Kings protest tomorrow with my son and husband after having breakfast and lunch with our boomer maga dads. 🤦🏼♀️ Lord help me. It will be a palette cleanser. Then we will go home and watch the Tonys - because art is the only thing saving me right now.
