🐒 Deer jerky, whine mommies + monkeys on the run: Lil Treasures #309
We're talking cat piano songs, pilgrimages + automatic faucets
Happy Friday, Lil Swipes! Let’s do some treasures.
🫶 I am always here for a tender Brendan Fraser moment, and got all the feels watching this interviewer talk about the kind of impact Brendan has made on her (and society) with his acting.
🐱 In honor of Harry Styles’ album drop announcement, I am sharing this masterpiece that is a cat piano playing Sign of the Times.
🍷 We’re only 16 days into 2026 and man, it’s been….kinda bleak. I wrote this week about how to maintain awareness while trying not to be divided + things you can actually do to make a difference in the newest paywalled essay called Organized Group of Wine Moms. I also included a resistance syllabus, as a lil bonus! You can read it in the Swipe Up+ if you’re a paid subscriber, or get it for zero dollars by sending me an email at hello@erinhmoon.com, and I’ll get you access!
🗣 I’m letting this post from Savannah Locke on how the algorithm is discipling you (not in a good way) steer a lot of my social media consumption this week.
🐺 The fun folks over at Common Ground Pilgrimage have invited me to travel on a pilgrimage to foreign lands (with you, if you want!) in 2027. On this particular journey, we’ll talk about books and life, traipse the English countryside like perimenopausal Mr. Darcys, and eat delicious food. I’m very excited about it, and I wonder if you might be interested? If that sounds fun to you, would you mind taking this very quick survey? I’d love to get your thoughts regarding texts, payment plans, and general interest.
🎤 Props to this karaoke king for sprinkling in a scene from Little Women to his song selection.
✨ My lovely friend Meredith Miller (you can find her here on Instagram) has a new book coming out this March called Wonder: 52 Conversations to Help Kids Fall In Love With Scripture. Meredith is so gifted at equipping parents and adults to talk about the Bible with the kids in their lives in a fun and relatable way. I cannot recommend this resource enough! You can find out more about Meredith and how to pre-order her book at this link.
🦌 Believe it or not, it’s time to talk about what’s Favored or Forsaken in January!
A few notable topics for this episode of Faith Adjacent include the downfall of Philip Yancey, if it’s okay to plagiarize sermons, and a special kind of ministry using deer jerky. Listen to the conversation here or wherever you get your pods.
🌿 Lent begins in just a few weeks! There are some really excellent resources from really smart people out there to accompany you through the season (let me know if you need a list), but I also have a few available in my store if you like the idea of a digital guide and have not taken them for a spin before! You can check out each of my Lent resources at this link. And don’t forget to use the code LILSWIPES for 20% off!
That’s a wrap, friends! Thanks for taking some time to read and engage (I hope to see you in the comments) on this lovely Friday. Let’s do this again next week, what do you say? See you then! 🪩

Good morning Swipes! I really wanted to get a Brick device to control my mindless scrolling and win back my free time, but I didn’t want to pay the $50-60 to get it. Then I found out about a FREE alternative! There’s an app called Foqos and it works just like Brick, and they don’t collect data and the guy who created it promised it will always remain free. I have it set up to where Insta and Facebook are blocked every day from 6pm - 8am and if I want access during those hours I have to get up, walk to my purse, and scan an old QR code in my wallet. I’ve been using it for a week and it’s amazing what I’ve been able to do when I can’t get on Instagram.
In other news, my husband and I intend to begin fertility treatments next month. I had to do an intense test Wednesday to make sure my fallopian tubes are open, and they are! Wahoo! All of our tests have come back normal, so we are hoping and praying the first round of treatments will be successful, especially because our insurance doesn’t offer fertility coverage and this is turning out to be quite expensive. Any prayers you can spare are appreciated 🩷🩷🩷
I hope everyone has a peaceful and restful weekend!!!
It has been a tough week. I was born and raised in MN and my family is still there. They are outside the Twin Cities, but I have some friends that are in the thick of it. I've been trying to balance being informed, figuring out what I can do from KS, and also trying to not spiral into despair and "othering."
Some ways I've been finding joy/taking brain breaks:
1. Reading "The Bible is for You" with a group of friends.
2. The Worship Initiative's daily worship devotions https://sing.theworshipinitiative.com/auth/login You need to set up a free account, but then they text you a link to the daily devotional. Singing songs with or just listening to Shane and Shane sing has been a good start to the morning.
3. Re-reading The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion series. If St. Crispian's was a real place, this would be my recommended reading on your pilgrimage, Erin.
4. Planning a trip to England in 2027 - completely coincidence, but old friends from our San Diego days are living in London now and invited all of the San Diego crew and families to Dorset in 2027. English countryside! Castle stay! Something to look forward to! I am so excited and it is still so far away. Honestly, if the dates work out, I'll figure out how to stay for Erin's pilgrimage.
5. Memoirs on audiobook. I just finished Awake by Jen Hatmaker and We've Decided to Go in a Different Direction by Tess Sanchez. Both were excellent.
Have the best weekend you can, folks. Much love to the MN Swipes.
