🐶 Lil Treasures #50: I have no words of comfort, but I will share this baby talking to a puppy in a baby voice.
FRIENDS! WHAT A WEIRD WEEK THAT SEEMINGLY WILL. NOT. END. I don’t really have much assurance to provide, other than I am actively removing myself from the internet this weekend (let’s be real: I’m still checking the election results). I’m actually just going to share a few treasures with you this week and hopefully check back in here and there. We’re gonna make it. We’re gonna get this figured out.
Here are this week’s treasures:
👟 Maybe you are like me and are doing your best to cling to any amount of cuteness in this world so you don’t fall apart constantly. These perfect baby Yoda high top sneakers for kids really spoke to me this week. My inner Star Wars nerd clicked the purchase button before I knew what happened.
🗳️ Another balm for my emotionally exhausted soul was watching this Buzzfeed collection of TikTok’s about election anxiety.
🥽 Listen we are having more fun with the Oculus VR that Ben bought with his sneaker money. It would be a perfect family gift or the best thing to drop your Christmas cash on. Plus the videos of our family members dancing to beats on they can hear is PRICELESS and if you get one, you simply must share them with me.
💜 Vogue also wrote a piece about one of our favorites, Kate Baer. If you don’t already follow Kate (@katejbaer) she writes raw, beautiful poems about motherhood.
🔍 For any of my fellow sleuths out there, this article about a mysterious, nameless hiker is super intriguing.
🎨 If British reality television has won you over with its’ adorable accents and kindness among contestants, be sure to watch Portrait Artist of the Year 2020 - a heartwarming reality show about the hunt for a star portrait artist.
😭 This video on TikTok about Steve Carrell growing up really got me in my feels.
And now for Twitter Hall of Fame:
These sobering truths:
This pure video featuring a toddler and a puppy:
A few of you sent me this video of a little boy named Sam getting VERY INTO HIS ABCs and I am here for it.
I know we’re all just refreshing election results, but if you need somewhere to put your nervous energy, may I suggest the We Got You Club? It’s still alive and kicking (now with two tabs, be sure to peruse in its entirety). I hope you have a great weekend. Can’t wait to see your treasures (and hoping for a big treasure from Nevada or Georgia or Pennsylvania)!
I have been hoping all week to be able to post today!
Most of the week has been a turd, as my body flipped out about a new treatment protocol I started, which was working well until it wasn't. The only thing I can compare it to is having food poisoning for five days straight, along with abdominal pain I have to imagine childbirth is like?? (Never had a kid so I don't want to presume but it was real bad.) Essentially due to neurological deficiency all the smooth muscle tissue in my body chose to take turns contracting. I worked a grand total of 8 hours this week when I'm supposed to work 30 and while my bosses are great and gave me no trouble about it, I feel like a complete failure of a person (Enneagram 1 in the house).
Dealing with all that was a good distraction from refreshing election news. My younger sister stayed up and watched all night Tuesday, so I texted her every two hours or so and she would fill me in.
Treasure: I had a few good hours and made gluten free dairy free salted caramel almond walnut baklava, inspired by a technical challenge on GBBO, which I'm watching for the first time! I'm obsessed. :) Paul Hollywood would say the baklava had good flavors but the bake itself was substandard, mostly because it just tastes gluten free (iykyk).
Love y'all <3
My mom’s birthday is today. She’s been gone for 17 years and sometimes the grief is still so fresh. I was listeninf to Hamilton on the way to school this morning. My son requested “the Election of 1800” 😆 and then I let it continue to play which led to the last song “Who Loves, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story” That along with getting back home and seeing that Biden had taken the lead in GA and PA brought tears. But I took a walk and then a friend texted out of the blue and asked if I wanted to take a walk so I took another one with her. Then I did a little shopping which my mom always loved doing. Anyway, it’s been a good day after a long week with both laughter and tears.
