So January, am I right?
Thank y’all for your prayers and good vibes to my grandmother. She did great and is feeling so much better. She sounds like a different person, and we’re so grateful.
I’m doing a lil Q+A on the ‘gram in Stories this morning about Lent and Memento Mori, my new Lent experience, but if you’re not on the ‘gram and you have questions, drop them below and I’ll be back later to answer them! And if you want to join us this year for Lent, you can get started right here (don’t forget newsletter subscribers get 20% off with code LILSWIPES).
Speaking of the ‘gram, my beloved Lubalin did another Random Internet Drama song, this time with, you know, Alison Brie and Jimmy Fallon AS ONE DOES 👇 :
🐷 This video of a group of baby pigs called The Spice Pigs is all I needed this week. ONE OF THEM IS NAMED ZAC SAFFRON.
💅🏻 A couple of you asked me if I tried Olive & June’s new primer and if it was worth it, so here’s my very bad review: my manicure didn’t last this week, but only because I picked it off as a stress reliever. I WILL say the primer made it much harder to pick off, so there’s that. Anyway, you know I love me some O&J, so here’s my code for $10 off, if you’re interested (it’s an affiliate link bb).
🏛 In light of our newest President being sworn into office this week, here’s a fascinating video about how the White House prepares for a new president to live there. I love all the behind-the-scenes stuff. It feels like an episode of The West Wing BUT REAL LIFE.
Did I ever tell you guys I went through a big pg stage? In that, I really wanted a pet pig and collected recycled cans to save up for one? That feels relevant today:
👊 I find Al Roker’s bromance with Joe Biden over the years completely adorable.
🔥 Vogue wrote a piece on Amanda Gorman, the woman who read her outstanding poem at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday. If you were impacted by her words as much as I was, give the article a read!
🤝 I am finding it more and more difficult lately to find joy in these dreary days of winter, still stuck in a seemingly never-ending pandemic. I stumbled across this post the other day about how practicing gratitude and showing support to others can actually bring you joy - here’s a helpful list of ways to show gratitude to others.
There are too many good Tweets for Twitter Hall of Fame this week. I tried to restrain myself, but these live events we all watch together are where Twitter shines, so I can’t apologize for bringing you the goods.
Okay that’s it for me this week. Weekend plans include reading (I’m almost finished with Jesus and John Wayne (😳), and I just got The Cerulean Sea from The Bookshelf), and as always, long walks on the beach with my bed. Maybe a Stupid Walk™️ or two. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to this week!
Heyyy alll!
Kamala! Bernie memes! What a week!
I moved Thursday! All my "things" have been in storage since 12/24/19! I've spent the last year living with fam.
It was like Christmas opening all the boxes and seeing what was inside! It was cool to show my boyfriend that I do in fact own things like pictures and plates too!!
Obsessed w/ this IG @thefoldinglady
I wont actually fold anything like she does because I'm uncoordinated! BUT, watching the folding relaxes me!
Pretty exhausted from the move. Looking forward to unpacking and making my home!
Has anyone ever floated the idea of moving the inauguration to, like, the third Saturday in January or something so normal people with day jobs can watch it? The only one I've ever been able to watch live was in...2017, because I was living in England and time zones are a thing, and boy was that depressing. Amanda's poem was like those occasional, really good sermons where you can't take notes fast enough. Can't stop thinking about it.
I'm almost finished with my first-ever viewing of Star Trek Enterprise, and I can't figure out why anyone ever thought it was a bad show. It's great Star Trek! I'll just imagine that they were saving all the good Hoshi stories for season 5.
We've had a student in the clinic this week and she has been an absolute delight. And she's got another week to go with us!
