š³ Lil Treasures #70: Reconstructing and Washing a Cast Iron Skillet
Plus skincare, makeups, and a turtle witnessing history
Greetings, pals! I got my first round of the vaxx this week, so truly, nothing can bring me down (what am I saying, I cried thrice this week). I took a moment to thank the science and logistics and divine appointment it took to deliver that little miracle into my arm. So grateful for smart people and Jesus.
Shall we Q & A real quick?
Q: What are your favorite hair products, make-up and/or skincare items right now? - @carryelouise
A: First of all, if I may: it is hilarious to me that this personš is being asked about her favorite beauty products. Letās just sit with that for a moment.
I have an Amazon list of my ride or dies here, but what Iām loving right now is as follows:
Kiehlās Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser - as someone with pores the size of the holes they carve into redwoods in order for cars to drive through them, Iām constantly digging gunk out of my face. I really do feel as though this has made a difference.
Function of Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner - One day, Jamie walked into the office and her hair was shining like a mermaid. She gave this shampoo and conditioner credit. I got the wavy type and added a no-frizz serum to the system and have just been thoroughly enjoying its magic on my hair.
Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Air Dry Creme - This and the mousse are helping me avoid blow drying my hair, which is honestly all I care about right now. Please do not make me blow dry my hair.
NARS Liquid Blush - I balked at trying a liquid blush because letās be honest, sometimes we donāt think we have the skillset for such things as moving from the powder to a liquid. This lasts FOR-EV-ER (I bought it in September and Iām not even halfway through the bottle) and itās so pretty behind my mask. š¤Ŗ
Olive & June Nail Strengthener - I know. I have a problem. But this stuff seriously works. My nails are brittle and constantly breaking, but I kept this on them for a week and wow. Take all my money, O&J!
Q: What is helping you reconstruct? - @elizziebethanne
A: Time. Time is giving me the grace and the space to inspect all the pieces Iāve ripped out of the walls. What stays? What goes? Iāve been examining and trying to remember the reasons something was in my house in the first place. What stays? What goes? Iām urgent, but not hurried. Iām learning to be okay when Iām wrong, to apologize. To push past my instincts and ask questions. But mainly, itās time. I donāt have to have it all figured out this instant.
Some Treasures, Yes?
š¤ Thereās a lot of chaos going on at the border these days, and it is heartbreaking to watch it unfold. Regardless of your stance, I think itās important to acknowledge that things are a mess and that the systems in place are broken. There are many ways we can extend love and compassion towards these refugees at our borders, but one way you can help this week is to support migrant youth who are being bused into San Antonio here!
šļøĀ My family and I spring breaked so hard this past week in Blue Ridge, GA. It was a magical time and so restful! I got to indulge my passion for traveling by train and it was as lovely as Iād hoped. My friend Courtney over at All The Best Days was the brainchild behind the planning of this trip - and I highly recommend her if youāre looking for a vacation-planning genius.
āļøĀ Pauline and Geoffrey receiving a Maundy gift from the Queen of England is the real highlight of my week if Iām being honest.
Some tweets? Some tweets!
If you observe and celebrate Holy Week, I hope you meet Jesus. Christ is risen (or He will in a couple of days)!
So excited this weekend! My sister and her family just moved back to Virginia after living in oklahoma for over almost 10 years. Feels like forever... we have like 3 get togethers planned!
Not looking forward to the candy tidal wave that will be hitting out house. I signed up for Noom a couple weeks ago and am loving it!
My husband and I both quit social media almost 3 years ago so this newsletter and feed is what keeps me relevant! Love you guys š
Hi all, I'm an infrequent commenter, but I almost always read through all the comments. As I continue to phase out FB (in the final phases), and am on the fence about whether I want to commit to IG as a replacement, this community has been such a breath of fresh air. :)
My treasure this week, lately, I've been working on trying to become a healthier 1w9 and/or finally in my mid-30s becoming okay with having some healthy boundaries š
So my treasures this week were visiting with a friend outside around a fire pit, puzzling through how we relate to our still fundamentalist families as we navigate our own post-fundamentalist faith. Exploring a new rails to trails with another friend on a rare sunny & warm Pennsylvania March day. Texting with my oldest childhood friend as we try to figure out the concept of mom jeans, what the heck kind of shirts and shoes you're supposed to wear with them, and why would I even consider buying all new shirts and shoes to wear with jeans that make my butt look gigantic anyway?
