I don't know how I missed this the first time around (but I'm sensing a theme on being behind the curve) but shanity - scary face cracked me up! How can she look so bad and precious at the same time? And how can her husband get her so much?? LOLOLOL

I’m late to this one, but I am on the coach recovering from a hip replacement - and I had to stop the shantilylace scared videos after one minute because I.COULD.NOT.BREATHE 😍

OMG those scare videos are everything! My abs hurt so much right now!

my vapors (currently 6+ months pregnant) are oreos + milk. my sweet husband refrained from eating an oreo at lunch the other day because he figured i'd be counting on the rest of them that night (there were SO many left, like at least 10 and he assumed i would need to eat them all). he's the best, hahaha.

Things I’m loving right now:

Music wise: Eric Hutchinson and Matt Hires! I saw them last night in concert (I live in Orlando) and I completely forgot how much joy their music gives me. Eric is a joy bomb in a tall lanky man, and his songs are so clever and catchy, not to mention he can play the piano and guitar like nobody’s business. Matt Hires is more low key, but his songs are so vulnerable and relatable. His album “American Wilderness” got me through the last election cycle and I need it again for this one! They’re both so sweet in real life, too.

TV: The Mandalorian for a new show, Parks & Recreation for rebinging, and The Good Place is pulling out all the stops for their finale. I’m getting emotional having to think about letting that show go.

Movies: one of my clients gave me a Fandango gift card for Christmas and I’m using it to see Knives Out probably tomorrow. I’m so excited, I’ve heard good things!

Have you seen this:

I'm looking forward to having this up during the next election.

I finally saw Little Women last night because Kalie made me -- I don't like to see movies that don't have explosions -- and

1) I love Laura Dern and have since Jurassic Park, so what I don't want to say is, "welcome to the club. what took you so long?" But I do want to say, I'm glad she is everywhere now.

2) That was a tough hang. I went full turtle into my sweatshirt.

Excited about a new Lent devotional! I loved O Heavy Lightness. Thank you Erin. My lil treasures this week are putting goat cheese on everything, Harry Styles’ new album, new single from Margo Price, finishing The Man in the High Castle, Booksmart, Pantsuit Politics, and buying a new house!! 🙏

LOVE Cheer! I very rarely binge bc... life/kids but I finished it in two days. Bringing BIG Jerry energy into 2020!!👏👏

Girl. Do not feel judged about your specific vapors. You don’t even need permission to excommunicate them. Says the lady that made a double batch of cookie dough on every Sunday of her first pregnancy. Then each evening the hubs and I would either eat it straight from the bowl or have them warm and soft from the toaster oven. Sometimes with ice cream. And I have no regrets! But I’m not telling how much weight I gained. 😂

I’m caring for my almost 88 year old mom who has dementia. I cannot express how WONDERFUL it is receiving this newsletter. It’s like a big hug. I audibly exhale and take a break to smile and laugh, and then head back to the real world where my momma waits.

Erin H Moon for the WIN!

I started Meg & Jo this week. Did you read it? I'm not sure how to feel about it? If it were a book I pulled off the shelf, I probably would like it. But I'm not loving the changes in the characters (namely Marme and the Dad) in this retelling.

Recovering from a nasty nasty bout of pneumonia & all the things and I took to my bed last night at 9 and slept like a zombie for 10 hours {although I wanted 12}. I should have thought of the cookie dough because that is what sweet dreams are made of. Thanks for a great recap of your week! Sorry you had a sucky day. But looks like you recovered well. Press on, sister.

This week has been quite a rager (not in the good way) up until today! But Friday is redeeming the days leading up to it in the BEST way. I work at a school and we got to host a surprise reunion for one of our students whose dad has been deployed to Iraq for almost a year. Dad came home this morning + sweet little boy had no idea + schoolwide assembly in the gym with Dad walking in to surprise his sons = BEST DAY EVER and me in an ugly cry. And now I'm reading this post and finding out that the Lent devotion will be based on Ecclesiastes so I'm waving my church hanky and hollering praises. Now I'm going to spend a solid 45 minutes reading everyone else's comments on this thread because these weekly posts are good for my soul.

Ok. Cheer. I live in Corsicana. That being so I have known how bad A that cheer team is and I literally know Monica but I didn’t KNOW!

This documentary has had a different affect on me because of that. *Full disclosure I am already one of those “everyone has a story” kind of people who wants to sit with you and get into the nitty gritty* But dang, y’all. She’s a normal lady raising babies and pursing her passion. There are so many people doing this!! But we don’t realize it because we are in our bubble. Yes, Monica is unique and I want to be just like her but I didn’t feel that way until I watched Cheer! How many people in our lives are killing it and have so much to offer, teach, and inspire us with but we are just glossing over them and all they have to offer because we aren’t “into” whatever they’re passionate about.

Ugh. Let’s find those people, be those people, and encourage one another! Because being a Monica is hard.

Also, I recognized her workout class and will be starting on Monday in hopes of channeling my inner Monica. Wish me luck.

This week I am loving the Hamilton soundtrack. Thank you for that. You introduced me to it. Just waking up? Better start the day with some Hamilton. Having a good day? Keep that energy rolling with some more Hamilton. Having a bad day? Listen to some sweet Groffsause crooning. Have to do math? Ham4Ham videos on youtube will help that speed right along. My mom loved Jonathan Groff in Mind Hunter, so I showed her the King George songs as a kind of gateway drug. We now have a house rule that no one is allowed to skip Jonathan Groff songs. She listens to My Shot. Slowly but surely I am getting her hooked. Other things I've enjoyed this week include:

Hanna Marin clips from PLL

Micheal Mcintyre stand up (he has a way of being slightly inappropriate while still being classy and not creepy or gross and manages to not swear, unlike a lot of comedians, and so I love him. I recommend his skit on his trip to the dentist)

and last, but not least,

Victory by Yolanda Adams (very good, highly recommend to anyone who needs to be reminded that they do indeed have the victory)

Love this thread. LOVE CHEER.

We've had 4 out of 5 days of school canceled this week due to snow and icy roads, because our little town is just not prepared. Everyone's adrenals are shot waiting for the 6am text message - will they/won't they?! My 10 year old cries every day they cancel school and now I'm like - I wish I had googled "like a victorian woman with the vapors" earlier this week so I could have called that shot instead of crying on the kitchen floor during dinner prep yesterday. REAL TALK. And now it's a long weekend where my husband is out of town for the whole thang. Lord be near. Godspeed everyone!

PS - Inside Bill's Brain has been a very compelling watch!

I just finished The Dearly Beloved by Cara Wall (Knox green lit it one week) and it broke me. Truly beautiful.

I also have been listening to the songs from Always Be My Maybe on Spotify? Bc I saw someone on twitter say that it was a crime that I Punched Keanu Reeves wasn’t nominated for best song at the Oscars and it made me giggle, so I went back and have been listening to Hello Peril on repeat. That dang Ali Wong got to kiss Daniel Dae Kim, Keanu, AND Randall Park all in one movie!!

I’m really into freezing food right now. I used to snarl my nose when people froze and reheated things. Idk why 🤦🏻‍♀️ But Naptime Kitchen has inspired me to make freezer meals. This week I made The Lazy Genius’s Mocha Oat Muffins. They reheat perfectly, and my whole family is OBSESSED. I didn’t know muffins could be so glorious. I also made Ina Garten’s weeknight bolognese for dinner, but I quadrupled the recipe and froze in separate freezer bags. Future me will love past me.

I never would have know the DP guy was Justin Guarini...

I finished the Making It finale yesterday, and it's a pretty charming show, although idk if I 100% agree with who won. There were a lot of talented people this season!

I'm nerdily excited about the new garage shelves we bought and my husband put together to help us prepare for our impending twin-undation. Also I bought them little anklet IDs to help tell them apart because we don't know if they're identical or fraternal and THEY ARE SO TINY. Like, duh, Lindsay. But I forget how tiny babies are.

Last night I had a meeting and afterwards texted my husband OMW, but just drove around listening to Popcast for 45 min. It was wonderful!!

This week I’m loving Netflix show The Circle. I didn’t want to love it. I tried to hate it, but there I was freaking out during the finale when the winner was announced. Netflix just knows me better than I know me!

So 👏🏻 Excited 👏🏻 For your new Lent study!

1. Troop Zero on Amazon was the perfect feel-good movie I needed this week. All the kids in it were perfection.

2. Made myself a “mom needs a break from your music” playlist that is safe for my kids but has all my favorites and it has been a sanity keeper this week.

3. Atomic Habits is blowing my mind (in a good way). I will have to check out The Good List and the routine episode - thanks for the rec.

4. Baking. I don’t do it often enough, because I don’t want to eat ALL THE THINGS, but I have been baking for events more this week and for got how soothing it is for me. I just need to find a purpose for baking so I can give away most of the baked goods!

Makes me so happy that Cheer has made people fall in love with cheer as a sport! I'm a former college cheerleader, so this has made me feel SEEN. I mean, we weren't a quarter as good as Navarro is, but competition cheer is hard, like sprint for 2 minutes 15 seconds while looking like you're having the time of your life hard. Loved every minute of it though! Made my best friends there who I'm still just as close to today. My former coach is a great mentor to me now, as she is a police wife and now I am too. God put a lot of people into my life through that sport that still cheer me on every day, and I get to do the same for them!

My children were a mess! yesterday, so naturally I gave them melatonin, which have me a couple wonderful hours until my 4 year old wet the bed at midnight (assuming he didn't wake up because of the drugs) and I spent the rest of the night with him alternating between crying that his new sheets were cold and trying to climb into my bed. Just trying to hold it together until Grandparent sleepovers in 5 hours 😣

My husband used to put me in timeout when the kids were little and I was done before the day was. He'd look at me and say, "I think you need to go somewhere else for awhile." So I'd go to bed or the library or a brewery and stay until I felt I could be nice to children again.

My week has been rough. I have been stricken with consumption, my husband has been out of town all week for work, and I started working part time. And I turned 43. What's been saving my life this week is the decisions I made several years ago to have my kids do their own laundry, make their own lunches for school, and get ready for bed with minimal help. You guys. If your kids are old enough to tie their shoes, they can make their own lunches. Your future sick/old/overwhelmed self will rise up and call you blessed.

As a 28 year-old who has died of consumption every winter since college, I am HERE for having the vapors.

I love that collect. It goes along with the rewrite of 1 Corinthians 13 that begins “love is chill, love is dank; it does not thirst, it does not flex..” that I def will have read at my wedding rehearsal someday.

I’m loving my friend’s podcast Men in Chairs these days... it’s probably not the general taste of most Lil Swipes, but if any one out there likes role play gaming and improv storytelling and 20-something male chaos then then check it out. It’s pretty funny. (Full disclosure I have a real life crush on the friend. He knows it. It’s cool. But that may me I’m biased.)
