š¦¢ Lil Treasures #119: Neck Pain and Two Guys Enjoying Swans
Plus gratefulness and Olestra chips
Greetings, friends! š Welcome to Friday. I hope you are making it as we drag ourselves across the winter finish line. All this extra Vitamin D is supposed to help, at least thatās what the internet told me when I was Googling how to overcome the saddies.
In addition to the sun, sometimes a way we can overcome sadness is to practice gratefulness, and to look for ways we can help meet a need. Like David Gate says:
If youāre feeling weary, or run down by the craziness of life and carpool lines and never-enough time, I would suggest trying on gratefulness for size. Put a reminder on your phone so you donāt forget to find small things in each day to be thankful for. Start a gratefulness journal, or make this a new routine at the dinner table. Gratefulness is not always something that comes naturally, so if you feel like itās hard to do, thatās because it is! But it also could be the ādollop of honey that helps with the bitternessā in your own life.
And of course, if youāre looking for ways to help meet a need, donāt forget about the We Got You Club! There are a couple of new entries from this past month and lots of space to list a need or meet a need.
Okay, letās get to the treasures!
š„ If you grew up in the 90ās, please watch this and let it transport you to much simpler times (complete with the stomach gurgles).
š«I keep coming back to this post by Reshma Saujani. If you feel like the amount of things you carry is unsustainable, youāll want to read it too! Also, Iām very interested to read Reshmaās book Pay Up: The Future of Women and Work1. If youāve read it, tell me your thoughts in the comments!
š My birthday is this week and I am very on edge in public trying to make sure this doesn't happen to me.
š I follow this account called lettersofnote on Instagram, and earlier this week they posted this letter of advice from a mother to a teenage daughter. It is very funny and heartwarming and as someone who is also about to have a teenager, it made me feel MANY FEELINGS. I especially am clinging to this treasured advice: āyou probably arenāt having a full-on nervous breakdown ā you just need a cup of tea and a biscuit.ā Thatās some good reasoning for us all today.
š¦¢This Tiktok of two guys paddling around enjoying swans had me belly laughing.
š Hereās a poem about Proverbs from our beloved Geoffrey to bring some wisdom and light into your Friday.
šŗ It was a real big bummer when the Babysitterās Club didnāt get renewed on Netflix, but this article in Vulture shed some light on the reasoning behind this decision. Also an excellent article for any of you with tween/teen girls who you feel like are expected to rocket-launch straight from being a kid to a full fledged adult (also a note for those blocked by the pay wall: open the link in an incognito window!)
šŗBefore we get to those good Tweets, here are two more videos to take with you this weekend: this one is a tribute to our hilarious and wonderful matriarch Betty White, and the second is this video of a dance circle that just made me really happy.
Letās do the Tweets!
š Let your heart be warmed:
KELLY WHY WERE YOU SURPRISED this song had all Millennials in a chokehold
Okay buds, I hope your weekend is full of lovely eats and drinks and amazing weather. Tear it up for me out there. I am looking forward to reading all your treasures in the comments! Love you the most.

Getting in on this one late again but Friday was filled with getting ready for our Spring Break trip. At this moment, I am sitting in a hotel bed in Atlanta but by this evening, weāll be in Orlando at Universal Studios, staying at Dockside Inn. Weāre so excited to take our 17, 14 and 10 year old kids there! We all love Harry Potter so are looking forward to that though I am a but nervous about doing some of the rides. I get motion sick. I can typically still do roller coasters but spinning and simulated things can get me good. I plan on taking Bonine and wearing Seabands but also know that Iāll enjoy just being there even if I donāt think I should ride something based on what Iāve read about it. If anyone has any suggestions on good food in the parks or around, Iād love to have them!
Then on the end of the trip as we head home, Iāll be meeting up with some good friends and heading to Birmingham for The Popcast Live Show! Itās a lot of travel all at one time but super excited to attend.
Hello friends!
Checking in late tonight. I am 1.5 weeks out from a job change and am getting so very excited! Also sort of running out of steam in the current job so trying to make my way through.
šÆ I donāt know why 2 years into this thing, I just realized what a delight it was to have candles lit in my home office while I worked, but itās been so pleasant! (Yes I know candles are terrible for your lungs but let me live!) Iāve snagged a great one at Target (based on birth stones, the June Pearl scent was SO good), and got one at Marshallās today called White Flowers that smells just like gardenias.
š§āāļø I learned about this site called Haldi that you input info about your skin and things you currently use, and they help you build a skincare routine! They leverage products you already have and recommend some new suggestions based on your budget and skin type. I tried it out a few months ago and LOVE some of the recommendations from them (they suggested a face oil that is DIVINE and the moisturizer has been a perfect fit for me). Free link to take their quiz is here : https://haldi.com/?referredBy=laurenheathfriends
No pressure to buy, but full disclosure, I get $20 off my next order if you do the quiz! I think itās worth doing the quiz just to know what order to use your current products in - thatās been a huge help to me!
šŗ Iām off to try to power through Inventing Anna so I can binge Bad Vegan later this weekend! Iāve been in a reading slump this year (so unusual for me), but Iām leaning into podcasts and TV until the right book finds me.
Happy weekend!
