🥒 Lil Treasures #140: Larry the Cucumber and Shetland Ponies in Sweaters
We're talking crocheting and Yoga with Adriene
Happy Friday, friends!
The Moon family has successfully completed week one of school and everyone survived, may His name be praised. I have evolved once again into my new favorite persona, Sports Mom™ and I’m feeling great about it all. I had the chance to get away to Chicago earlier this week and attend a retreat and it was so lovely, but now I’m faced with getting all the things back in order. Gotta get this ish organized!
Guys, I ate like a dang queen in Chicago and can’t stop dreaming about the experience. It made me realize that most of my favorite memories of traveling involve food, naturally, and I’d love to hear about some of your favorite food city destinations so I can add them to my list! Please share your foodie expertise in the comments below.
Let’s get to those treasures!
🍲We’re in that back-to-school grove, and I’m gathering all the crowd-pleasing, simple recipes I can so that we can eat food at home sometimes. This healthier hamburger helper recipe from HBH is on my list to make soon!
🥹 I fall down the rabbit hole of heartwarming surprise videos (military, animals, military animals, this entire thread of surprise videos that Lindsay Rush shared, etc) more often than I’d like to admit. They are my emotional kryptonite, sure to hack that cry whenever needed. Laura Tremaine's video of her son surprising his best friend did the trick for me this week.
🧶The lovely D.L. Mayfield subscribes to a monthly crochet kit and I’m very intrigued and also wondering if this is the next step in my puzzle journey? This is her crochet kit for this month and I’m kind of obsessed with it.
⚡Olivia Newton John passed away last week after battling cancer for a few decades. She was an icon! If you’re a Grease fan, please do yourself a favor and watch this duet where Olivia and John Travolta reunited for You're the One that I Want.
💇When I say there is a competition for everything I mean I just stumbled across the finalists of the USA Mullet Championship and I just want to say, dream big everyone.

Hello tears
This is my fitness
Alright friends, that’s it for me! Excited to read all your lovely treasures you’ve accumulated this week. Have the best weekend!
OH I have to add my ONJ tidbit ...
So, my older cousin introduced me to Grease maybe the summer before 1st grade? To say I was obsessed is an understatement. A few weeks later, at meet-the-teacher, I was asked for any nicknames. Simultaneously - Mom: No, Me: Yes, Mandy. Mom was clearly bewildered because never in my life had anyone called me anything but Amanda. But, I realized my name could be *so close* to Sandy! And so I became Mandy and remained so until my husband and I moved to B'ham and it just became easier as a *real adult* to use my legal name for signing documents and such. Back to Amanda. People who know me from college (and my parents and brother) still call me Mandy ;)
Ok, SAME with the food memories. Just got back from NYC with another BFOTS where we planned our entire trip around food.
NYC - (1) Bell Book and Candle - Get the crispy jalapeno fried deviled eggs and the goat cheese/bean dip, add chorizo. This place is pretty hidden in Greenwich Village. The vibes are (2) Tamarind - I'm always getting Indian food. This place was recommended to Mindy Kaling on Twitter and it did not disappoint. The Gobi special was fire. (3) Jacob's Pickles - freaking everything. EVERYTHING. But, be prepared to nap in Central Park after pickle margs and biscuits and gravy.
Italy - For your relics and ravioli trip with Jamie ... the bread at all the restuarants in Rome was significantly better than the bread at the Florence restaurants. In Florence it was more of a whole grain situation which was disappointing. I'll eat healthy stateside. Although, that was 10 years ago, so things could've changed ;)
Asheville - Chai Pani. Like I said, Indian is always on the schedule.
