Happy Friday friends!

Well, the students are back in Ithaca. Target has been overrun, there are whole swaths of shelf space cleared in Trader Joes, and overeager parents are everywhere. I am IN LOVE. My only question is: are we really leaning into the cropped tops? Is that life now? My belly has birthed 3 children and cannot, no thank you ma'am.

Treasures:

~ Food destination-wise, I had the best lemonade of my freaking life in Elko, NV, in a place called McAdoo's. It was prickly pear flavored and I think about it at least once a week.

~ Flavortown is back. Kendra Adachi's take might be the most commented on, but my favorite comes from Rachel Spellings: "We have too many teeth. Takes too long to brush them and flossing is tedious. We need a solution for this global issue." https://www.instagram.com/p/Cha7UPOLav5/

~ I got to see John Green be as cute as cute can be in a Governerds zoom chat this week. It was ADORABLE. And, heads up, the next round of Sharon McMahon's Fun Pass group opens SOON and IMO it is worth every penny.

~ Made this last week, the crispy halloumi is **chef's kiss** https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTcd_MD3dw/

~ Making these for dinner one night next week because pancakes always win https://everyday-reading.com/saturday-night-pancakes/

~ We are deep into all things Pokemon, and yesterday we watched the Charmander episode. IYKYK, but let it be said there was nary a dry eye in the house.

My favorite moment from the week was probably getting to hear that my friend Marley's husband got a job he had been waiting to hear about for months. And then seeing our beloved Shelby and Melanie hype her up in the best way. This feels VERY REAL to me https://www.instagram.com/p/ChZvQ7MuYxS/ Hugs friends!

Here is my treasure that I will share. I have made this “recipe” approximately 8,000 times this summer. I call this highly unoriginal recipe Pizza Grilled Cheese, and it is fantastically stupid in both its ease to make and it it’s crowd pleasing appeal. There is one secret ingredient and that is to purchase a loaf of Rustic Sourdough bread from Panera and ask them to slice jt thin before they bag it. Now, this will cost you $8.00 for one loaf of bread, but I cannot underestimate how amazing your grilled cheese will taste. To compare, you would pay $8.00 for one grilled sandwich from Panera, and a loaf will make you at least ten sandwiches. Ingredients: Panera sliced bread, one package of sliced Mozzarella cheese (I get the cheap grocery store slices but you can get it from deli section sliced fresh which is even better, I can of Tomato Purée (this is located next to the tomato sauce in your grocery store), 1 package of Hormel pepperonis. When you assemble this on your skillet, you will only need about 1 Tablespoons of the tomato purée per sandwich. You can refrigerate what you don’t use. Assemble by buttering your Panera slices, a Tablespoon of purée, one slice mozzarella, and four or five pepperonis, and top with your buttered second piece of bread. Cook on your skillet until both sides are perfectly crispy. This combination is absolutely delicious, but sometimes I switch it up and use Swiss cheese and ham, or pesto, mozzarella, and rotisserie chicken, or just your normal cheddar cheese all by itself. If you don’t want to make a trip to Panera for the loaf of bread, you can probably just substitute a fancy sliced loaf from your grocery’s bakery section. Life is too short to eat bad bread! Get the good stuff!
