š£ Lil Treasures #176: Couscous and Footprints In the Sand
Plus Brio girls and the best airport meal out there
Hello, beautiful humans!
Friday crept up on me but Iām so glad we made it here.
I have a delightful personal treasure to share before we get to the goods! Last weekend I had a belated 40th birthday bash complete with an 80s costume contest and karaoke and friends and tacos and I had the time OF MY DANG LIFE. I mean just look at this moment of sheer joy!
Unfortunately, I raged so hard that I injured my knee doing the Tootsee Rolls and had to go to the PT to correct my mistakes so that is super super cool. I suppose this is 40.
Okay enough about my fragile body system, letās get to to the good part!
This weekās injury-free treasures:
š£ Very much enjoyed this real-life depiction of the poem footprints in the sand.
šI want this photo of women eating spaghetti afloat Lake Capri framed. Also please take of the comment below the captionā¦
š¤øš»āāļøI came across this video of a tiny baseball player with pizzaz and honestly this is the kind of legacy I really dream of leaving one day.
š§“Birminghamās best dermatologist & skincare aficionado Dr. Corey Hartman just shared this reel on what is actually necessary for an A.M. skincare routine. Perfect for those of you who might want to start diving into skincare but feel overwhelmed!

šµA poet named Joseph Fasano posted this submission of a poem from a woman with dementia. I mean š„¹
š¼Christian gurlies who grew up in the 80ās/90ās in the CCM explosion: this post about Brio magazine brought me BACK. All I ever wanted was to be a Brio Girl! Let me know if you were also a dedicated reader.
š³ļøIf you keep up with the news, you might have heard that Tucker Carlson was fired from his broadcaster position at Fox this past week. This thread from a pastor about Carlsonās impact on a church community (and many Christians across the country) is extremely eye-opening.
Twitter land is weird right now, but here are the best tweets Iāve found:
It would be an honor to read your treasures + turds from the week in the comments, so please donāt forget to share below!
When I come to you next week I will be a woman transformed by Taylorās presence, most likely for the better. Have a great weekend! š
Happy Friday!
It's been a minute since I hopped into the comments (Covid finally got us after 3+ years and a month later we're still recovering). I've got a freshly minted 7 year old, the sun is shining, and iced coffee season is just beginning, so it feels like spring might finally be appearing in Ithaca, despite a slow start.
Treasures:
~ We watched the entire How to Train Your Dragon franchise (let's be honest, we've watched a tonnn of movies lately) and now I play Test Drive on repeat, it is an utter masterpiece https://open.spotify.com/track/2QTDuJIGKUjR7E2Q6KupIh?si=QTbJL-XLR5iHzUYpMSBcKA
~ I made macarons TWICE and they turned out delicious both times. I should basically be on GBBO now https://www.instagram.com/p/ChC26thAGhj/
~ I want the energy of 16 year old me https://www.instagram.com/p/CrI71pwOvYn/
~ I read the whole From Blood and Ash series, got super bored with most of book 4, but the ending was good so now I'm all the way back in, and also, this https://www.instagram.com/p/CrVxv2aoZDE/
I hope everyone's weekends are what they need them to be! Hugs friends
I remember reading Brio for a few years but I think I was pretty late to the game because I had no idea you could apply to be a Brio girl. I donāt even remember much about the magazine EXCEPT I have a weirdly distinct memory of how the magazine felt in my hands - the paper was different than other magazines. Memory is strange.
Treasures:
1. I got to see a pre-screening of Are You There God? Itās Me, Margaret on Tuesday night and I highly recommend it. I was so glad a good friend came with me because we both had so much to process afterwards on the drive home! Itās the perfect ābook clubā movie. I laughed. I cried. It moved me, Bob.
2. Finished The Spare yesterday and came to 3 conclusions after reading it:
A. I will never wish to be famous
B. I will not be buying any celebrity magazines anymore
C. I am not going to go up to celebrities if I see them in public; just going to let them live their lives.
The book was very well written but man, what a mess of a family. I kept thinking āplease find a therapist please find a therapist.ā
3. Heading out today for a big, much needed girls weekend with some of my favorites and some new ladies. Weāre heading to a lake house in Arkansas and relaxing for 48ish hours and I cannot wait.
Hope you all have the loveliest weekend. Erin, have the best time at the concert! I love living vicariously through everyoneās Eras experiences!
