🍩 Lil Treasures #198: Donut Support + Forts on the Threshing Floor
We're talking cozy fall movies and group chat names.
Thank you for all the well wishes and excellent baby tips from last week. This really is just the most delightful corner of the internet, I remain convinced.
The Long House has a big weekend planned, and maybe I will see some of you? The Eldest will play in her final middle school volleyball tournament, and then my sister-in-law and I will jump in the car and head to Atlanta for the Popcast Live! If you’re coming, will you let me know? Especially if you’re coming through the VIP line because I will definitely get to see you and hug you (if that is your bag) and we can scream and giggle, which I love doing.
After this weekend, I am starting No Move November early (like first weekend of October) because I feel like I’ve been on a high speed train since May. I plan on introducing my girls to some cozy movies, but I’m on the fence. Definitely thinking You’ve Got Mail, Little Women (they’ve seen it but I need them to embody it), Remember the Titans? Is it too early for the Eldest to dabble in some Matthew McFayden Pride and Prejudice or will that sour her if we go too soon? Is she ready for Twilight? Is anyone ready for Twilight? What are your favorite cozy fall movies? If you have suggestions (for bigs or littles or straight up adults), throw them in the comments so we can make a big ol list for each other!
Let’s do the treasures!
🏈 I have so enjoyed all the Taylor Swift x Travis Kelce work the internet is doing this week, but this little mashup is definitely all my interests converging in a beautiful way.
📡 This week on Faith Adjacent,
, and I talked about the story of Ruth and Boaz and what exactly it means to “uncover” someone’s feet in a biblical way. Spoiler: it does not mean they were just building fun forts on the threshing floor.😘 Zach Lambert (who is an excellent follow BTW) posted this video of Deion Sanders (who coaches at Colorado) and his son (who plays at Colorado) walking into the game. Half the walk is as father and son, and half the walk is coach and player, but it culminates in Deion giving his son a hug and kiss. I wept, so I am probably totally fine, right?
🧠 Something I’ve noticed now that I’m 40 is memory ISSUES (also I have to take my glasses off a lot to see up close gah). I thought this article was super helpful. One day you’re cool and the next day you’re sharing articles about memory loss.
📲 I love the comment section at Cup of Jo - it never fails to bring me joy. Recently they asked readers to share the names of their group chats and I was delighted with the responses.
✍️ My IRL friend
started a Substack recently and I really can’t recommend it enough. Erin is one of the best people I know, a dang good writer, the neighborhood therapist (she’s not actually a therapist but we kind of treat her like one), a fabulous photographer, and so much more. She’s over at and all her content is currently free American dollars, so click subscribe so you can get in on the ground floor and say you were there at the beginning, okay? The best tweets/grams/threads from this week:
That’s it from me! Make sure you let me know if I’ll see you in Atlanta this weekend and share all your cozy movie recs in the comments! Can’t wait to hear all about your treasures!
Love you mean it!
"Is anyone ready for Twilight?" - I first saw it as an adult and I don't know if I was. ;)
Cozy movies: Emma (Gwyneth version, but A T-J is growing on me) and Ever After were the movies I rotated renting from our local video store. And I know it's not a movie, but Anne with an E on Netflix feels so cozy to me.
Happy fall-ing! No Move November is sounds really good after our bonkers fall. :)
For movies, Sense and Sensability, Steel Magnolias, Return to Me, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Mona Lisa Smile. I think I cry at all of these. That says so much.
