🐧 Lil Treasures #209: Homesteading and Meeting Penguins
Plus q-tipping, adult friendships and babes & puppies
Hello, everyone!
I hope you are finding joy in the middle of the craziness of this weekend. Please enjoy this week’s holiday roundup of treasures and treats. Love you the most!
Treasures of comfort and joy
🙏 If you’re road tripping this weekend, make sure to cue up this week’s episode of Pray-UA, where we took the conversation on prayer for a spin! You can listen to our discussion and check out the Faith Adjacent episode archive at this link!
😒 Not me saying this exact phrase at several points throughout the week.
🕯 If you’re feeling a little disconnected from Advent this year, you might like this post about empathy in the midst of Advent.
🐧 Please do yourself a favor and watch this darling video of a woman meeting a penguin. Also, I’m gonna need to know where she purchased that hat.
⛪ Throughout my journey of church re-entry these last few years, it’s been nice to have voices like Meredith Anne Miller saying things like this, especially in the chaos of others saying things that I do not feel like are particularly helpful.
🌽 The amount of times we talk about homesteading in my friend groups right now is unreal. A cozy compound with people that make me laugh where we grow our own food and make jams? Count me in!
👭🏼 The wise parenting coach and general internet joy Mary Van Geffen posted these 5 postures for turning an acquaintance into a friend. Adult friendships often have a difficult time moving beyond surface level, but these tips are great to hang on to if you want to go a little deeper.
⚾ Sometimes the power of social media is a beautiful thing, like in this thread about a couple on a date at a baseball game.
😍 Listen, all I needed for Christmas was this photo of hot babes and puppies.
The best memes!
Cheers to your holiday weekend, friends! I hope it’s the best one yet. See you next week for a final round of 2023 treasures!
That baseball game thread was a delight, and the penguin lady’s joy made me cry (and plan a trip to the zoo!) Looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet with my family. Games, movies, snacks...bring it on. Living far away from extended family is tough at the holidays, but there’s something to be said for getting to hang out in pyjamas all day. Have the best holiday available to you, fellow Swipes!!
We're watching the documentary Happy in my health class right now. There's a section on communal living in the happiest country in the world, Denmark. I think that's what the homestead desire is getting at.
