šµ Lil Treasures #225: Matcha Tea + The Perfect Vacation Husband
Plus Kindles, Nancy Meyers and a new resource for the kids!
Happy Tortured Poets Department release day to all who celebrate! For those of you who have already listened to the album all the way through, can we get a wellness check? Howās your heart? Youāre reading this in the future, where I have attempted to stay up late with my daughters to listen to the drop at midnight. Opinions have been formed by now (I did read some of the lyrics from the leak, spoilers in the footnotes1). Hopefully, I have slept.
Taylor and I have both been working on some fun projects, one of which for me was getting to be a writer for the new illustrated storybook Bible for kids called Godās Stories as Told by Godās Children.
The Bible for Normal People was the mastermind behind this childrenās storybook Bible, bringing together different biblical scholars, theologians, faith practitioners, and authors to help bring light to the stories and texts in the Bible in a way that is easily readable and full of curiosity and wonder. I still canāt believe I got to be a part of this project! Iām geeking out seeing my name listed among a few legends. And also because I got to write about two of my favorite people in the Bible, Deborah + Jael, plus they let me write it to keep the interest of a fifth-grade boy, which means all the blood and guts. So. Much. Fun.
You can find out more about this project and sponsor the the kickstarter at this link! This book has a lot of really amazing potential and ways to be utilized, and any funds raised will make more of those ideas come to life.
Okay! And now for some feel-good treasures and your weekly meme dump! Letās go.
This weekās treasures, curated just for you:
š£ Your tender moment of the week is brought to you by this 79-year-old fisherman and his response when asked if he could give his younger self any advice. I cried like a baby.
š§ The newest episode of Faith Adjacent was a hoot! We talked about a few of the things we believed as a kid on this special Kid Logic episode on Rapture Anxiety, Misheard Lyrics, and Unconventional Spiritual Warfare. You can listen here!
š If youāre in the weeds of planning your summer trips, donāt forget add a perfect vacation husband to your packing list.
š£ I highly recommend you watch Pete Ennsā response to Alisa Childers and Tim Barnettās take on what they think deconstruction means.
š§ŗ Give me a cozy, colorful vintage-y vibe at home, and you will find a very happy and content Erin. For this reason, I really loved these Amazon finds that will make your house feel like a Nancy Meyers movie, because havenāt we all wanted to transform our spaces into something right out of The Parent Trap or The Holiday? You know this to be true.
š Motherās Day is on the horizon (PSA, we are less than a month away) and as my friend Mary Van Geffen so eloquently challenges here, are you celebrating the way you want, or preparing for another year of unmet expectations? And donāt forget to take my evergreen advice to create your own Fake Motherās Day so you can celebrate how you want and your kids can give you trash and it wonāt make you want to cry sad tears. Start planning today.
š This week on The Swipe Up+ we worked together to help one of our own figure out what to do when you donāt quite feel at home in your body. šØ Teamwork makes the dream work, as they say, and this king who supports and cheers on his lady as she paints is the kind of hype man I am here for.
Meme Hall of Fame!
Are you preparing your treasures for the comments below? I canāt wait to read them. See you next time, ladies and gents!
At first, I thought this was a Joe Break-up Album. Then I thought it was a Matty Healy Break-up Album. And now I think it might be a Swiftie Break-up Album. As in, she might be burning it down with the psycho set of her fans. Thatās just from the lyric leak. WE SHALL SEE.
I listened to most of TTPD before bed and was not feeling great when I woke up this morning and the songs seemed to multiply! 31 songs?! Also McSweeny's list of things that could be called TTPD is great!
It's supposed to rain here tomorrow, so maybe I'll lean into that and listen to TTPD while I try to make this house habitable. PSA if you are moving soon: DO NOT cheap out on the movers. I learned this the hard way while helplessly watching a guy move my dresser up the stairs by rolling it end over end. Fortunately everything seems to be ok, but let this be a lesson to you all.
