🧈 Lil Treasures #234: Bedtime Stories + Discovering Butter
We're talking The Tony Awards, and food vacations
Happy Friday, friends! 🤸
I woke up today in my favorite state (any guesses where?) for the first stop on the Popcast Live tour this weekend! Most of you already know my deep-rooted adoration for my home state, but I am also excited about our second stop this Saturday in Chicagoland!
Lots of great things come out of Chicago - like Michelle Obama, Portillos Hot Dogs, that song from Sufjan Stevens and of course everyone’s favorite fake restaurant, The Original Beef (side note, season 3 is almost upon us).
Ben Moon and I are kid-free the next couple of weeks, so we’re going to indulge in all the food The Windy City has to offer as we traipse around for a lil post-show mini-vacay. I love a live show and I also love a food-centered vacation, and I am genuinely excited for all the next few days have to offer.
Do you have any trips or events coming up that you’re excited about? It makes me secondhand excited when I hear about things other people are full of anticipation for, so please share what you’re looking forward to this summer in the comments!
Hope to see some of you this weekend on one of our stops. But let’s not forget about the treasures!
This week’s treasures! 💋
🐦⬛ Good morning, these words by Andy Squyres about judgment day are piercing my soul in the best way.
🏆 The most tender thing I have seen in a while was Jonathan Groff's acceptance speech at the Tony Awards earlier this week. His pride for his hometown! Those beautiful Groff parents who raised him right! That shout-out to Dan Radcliff! I wept.
🪞 And as if my heart wasn’t swooning enough, it definitely is now after seeing this post about these pals getting ready for the Tony Awards together and these photos at the after-party.
🫶🏾 We celebrated Juneteenth earlier this week! In honor of the day and our black brothers and sisters, I’d love to share this gorgeous rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing (the Black National Anthem) played by Sista Strings at the Library of Congress. They got to play the song on REAL LIVE Stradivarius instruments from the Library, which is extremely cool.
😍 The Pride and Prejudice to Bridgerton pipeline is strong.
🪩 We’ve got a new episode of Faith Adjacent up and ready for your ears to enjoy! This week we’re talking about some recent happenings at the SBC, what the deal was with Precious Moments figurines and a Taylor Swift-themed VBS. Cue up the episode here!
🌈 Jonathan Merritt continues to be one of my favorite people in this world, and wrote about his experience of coming out and staying a Christian over on Instagram. Please read it if you can!
🧈 I took such great delight in this video of a little girl who just discovered butter.
🌿 Lovers of the Enneagram, you will enjoy this post about the different Enneagram types from the perspective of the poet and spiritual director, Alex Klingenberg.
👨👩👦👦 As an older sibling, I will agree with this guy and say that you younger siblings will never know just how much easy we have made it for you.
📢 I wish I had adequate words today to address some of the recent church scandals, but I will gladly let Shannan Martin do that here.
Meme Hall of Fame 🏆
That’ll do it, babes! If you’ll be in Dallas or Chicago this weekend for either of the PMG live shows, please come say hello! Love ya, mean it.
I'm doing my first solo backpacking trip this summmmmer!
Y’all my algorithm has been a bit wonky lately (a strange amount of haircut vids) but today we’ve restored perfect order: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7zIIO_O2p3/?igsh=azUyN21kcXJyNWJy
