Well. Itβs been a weird one. Definitely a mixed bag.
It was super fun earlier this week to finally pull back the curtain and tell you about my upcoming book, Iβve Got Questions.
I felt like I was keeping a secret from you for months, and frankly, I am relieved! And excited! But also in the same breath, the pants-pooping potential is real.
Anyway, much more to come
[If you are new here or are just catching up, I spilled the tea about my new book, the beautiful cover, and a few other nitty gritty details in a post earlier this week. You can click here to pre-order that puparino.]
Itβs also just been like, another weird week in America, and I donβt know if weβre supposed to keep remarking on that or if itβs white noise now. Iβm doing my best to keep my head down in the work of seeing people as people as hard as I can. Itβs a full time job, but someoneβs probably doing it for me. π
More on all that later, taters! Itβs time to all up in those treasures.
Letβs do this weekβs treasures!
π If you are an owner of a pair of boobs, I cackled at this video of the gals in different 'fits.
π€ Harry Styles has finally come out of hiding and decided to re-enter society in a cool way by joining (her majesty) Stevie Nicks on stage at BST Hyde Park for a rendition of Landslide.
π My dearest "Fakβ aka Matty Matheson is a style icon, in case you were unawares.
πΊ This interview with Tom Hardy where he answered funny questions from kids is truly a delight!
π§Ά The internet is full of moms who have pristine homes and perfectly-behaved children and who make homemade macarons just for fun, but for those of us who are maybe not thriving as much, this poem by Lyndsay Rush is for us.
π² Can you imagine the amount of sweat and endorphins at this feral cycling class on a Swiftie Saturday? Ima need an invite to one of these ASAP.
πΆ The new movie Twisters opened in theaters this weekend, and although Iβm sure the movie will probably be a big hit, I think the best thing that came out of filming was Brisket the puppy.
π¨ Itβs a weird time where weβre all grasping at the good things to stay sane, and per usual we can count on David Gate to encapsulate the way this feels beautifully.
β½ One of the coolest British things Iβve ever seen was The Killers pausing their show for the last minutes of an England futbol match and then going right into Mr. Brightside immediately after they won.
π° I am so impressed by all the planning and creativity that went into this father-daughter dance!
πΆ In case you missed it, this past week (was it this past week? I canβt remember. Time is a construct) during one of the ESPYβs evening segments, these three powerhouse ladies (Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Quinta Brunson) threw so much shade at Harrison Butker and I couldnβt help but enjoy it.
π‘ Listen Marge the real estate agent, you really know your millennial audience with these reels. Somebody in Elgin, IL go buy this house from Marge, she is dedicated!
ποΈ Itβs time for this monthβs episode of Favored or Forsaken over on Faith Adjacent! Weβre talking about the Promised Land, digging into the topic of pornography (amongst other controversial conversations), and giving you some tips about how to respond to Instagram when it feels like itβs on fire. Listen to the episode here or wherever you access your pods!
Itβs meme-o-clock!
Ok friends, weβve reached the end of this weekβs newsletter. I canβt say thank you enough for all of your encouragement and support this week with the book announcement! Youβre simply the best. Iβll see you in the comments!
Happy Friday! It's been a week of absences all around here in the youth department- staff, subs, teen volunteers, you name it. We are all glad it's Friday...maybe not those that have to work the weekend. As a patron, I love that people want the library open 7 days a week. As a staff member, it's a lot of work!
π· I've never really been a plant girly, but now I have a yard with two flower beds and I have to do something. On the advice of a coworker, I'm committing to a flowering bush vibe and got my first two this week. She sold be with the reminder that I could have cut flowers for my home.
π Why are the best reads during the busiest times? I just read and loved Skin & Bones by Renee Watson, Women of Good Fortune by Sophie Wan, and The Guncle Abroad by Stephen Rowley
I just need to state that Marge actually has a large Tiktok presence, too, so sheβs got the gen z audience on lock as well.
