My cousin, John Boie, is a Paralympic wheelchair basketball player! He was on the gold medal team in Tokyo and they hope to win gold again this time! My (our) 92-year-old grandma is flying to Paris to watch him, along with my parents and his family. We are so proud of him!
I have too many thoughts to write. These were all, indeed, treasures. The dad comforting his Olympian daughter is so precious. And Tim Walz and his whole family gives me hope as an educator. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you for sharing these, as always!
Here in south TX, even fake fall is a far-off, distant dream. What happened was that we had a very mild and rainy July, and then to make up for it we got all of the normal heat for July and August this month. It has been pushing 110 all week. Thank God for the Paralympics, because it is too hot to leave the house for the foreseeable future.
✏️ Our daughter started 4th grade on Tuesday and has had a great first week. I am exhausted by all the routine changes and am soaking up a quiet Friday at home!
🍁Loving fake fall so much! My hot drink of choice this week is Stash’s decaf tiger spice chai with vanilla oat milk creamer. I use two tea bags and it’s so delightful.
🧶Made a lot of progress this week on my first knitted sock and am really proud of myself! Especially because I didn’t lose my sh*t and throw it out the window after noticing some mistakes that will probably make it unwearable. Overcoming perfectionism ftw!
Three more days and then I have a week of vacation! Summer reading has been much more chill this year, but our August ref desk schedule has been madness.
🍂Beautiful cool weather this week! I love sitting outside in the mornings with a hot drink and it was finally possible again.
🧵I'm doing a tween embroidery program in a few weeks bc I'm always trying to teach other people to sew. Within 1 week the registration was full which is just so fun and encouraging!
💰My SIL has had some great updates this week in both her fertility journey and her job search!
🎤Our choir director has asked me to do a solo/duet for lessons and carols! I was hoping she would and I'm very exited, but also nervous. I love singing, but I also tend to avoid making myself noticeable. This was a big coping mechanism as a child that I'm realize I'm not done unpacking.
🍁 Mornings in Kansas are cool and are giving me hope that permanent fall weather is just around the corner. 🤞🏼
📺 Hubs and I flew through One Piece on Netflix. It’s a live action version of a popular anime show. The storytelling is top notch, and the whole “chosen family” theme makes me teary. Highly recommend!
🦜 I am usually anti-bird, but we have a hummingbird feeder on our deck and the hummingbird couple that frequent it bring me a lot of joy. They’ve also grown comfortable with me, and yell at me when the feeder is empty. This makes me feel like a woodsy Disney Princess and also terrifies me; those beaks could poke my eyes out!
A turd and an ask:
My 10 year old recently got very sensitive about his body. He is built differently than his brothers (Defensive Tackle vs. Running Backs) and is starting to notice and feel bad about it. It makes my mama heart so sad. Does anyone have any body image resources or recommendations for boys?
