Pregnancy brain and mom brain, yeesh. In the recent past, I took an everything shower only to realize the next day that I had only shaved one armpit. This was mildly amusing at first, but then I started thinking and… how did I manage to forget what I was doing in the three seconds it takes to switch from one side to the other? 😂

GOD yes with the stupid people's opinions, and also the Threads genre of not only people being loud and wrong but ALSO the people anxious about an encounter with a loud and wrong person. Babe. That was just an asshole. You don't need to worry about whether you've been wrong this whole time about a fact, norm, or your entire personality. That was one (1) single jerk. You're fine. Just go "that was weird" and walk away.

(Sharing about weird encounters is a great genre of post, but the "A guy told me I'm supposed to smile every time I pass a man, have I been missing this this whole time" "A cashier yelled at me for asking how their day is going, am I autistic?" "I'd love to host a book club, but 30 years ago, my teacher was incorrect and I pointed out the mistake and the whole class laughed at me, so I must be too socially awkward to interact with other people or lead anything. :( " "I had a therapist tell me I need to just pray about my problems and trust God but that didn't work to heal my chronic depression, so I think I'm too broken for therapy." PLEASE stop listening to a single asshole and assuming they are experts in your own life and intentions and identity. Lord.

The Leanne Morgan story is also such a beautiful reminder that age on either end of the spectrum is its own gift. We can’t discount older individuals as if they’re past their prime, for sure. But we also can’t assume because a person is in their twenties that they have little to offer someone with more life experience. A verse in 2 Timothy comes to mind.

When I zoom out, the broader exhortation is that we ALL have value. We ALL have something worth celebrating. We ALL have a part to play. Even the people I disagree with about (insert literally anything good Lord are we done with election season yet?). What a simple reminder of our neighbors’ worth.

😂 Man, one of my besties absolutely loves Leanne Morgan, maybe this is my sign to sit down and actually watch her special.

⛈️ My side of Florida survived the hurricane intact, but the Big Bend portion of Florida wasn’t so lucky. Please keep them in your prayers!

🔮 RIP Dame Maggie Smith, you were too good for this world.

Happy Friday!!

I had never heard of Leanne Morgan before and she seems like a total delight!

My treasure this week was turning 37 on Wednesday - I took the day off work and got a massage. Now I’m spending too much time wondering if I’m officially in my late 30’s, or still in the mids??

Mary, please go watch Leanne's special on Netflix (I believe). My dad and I watched it together and we were crying, we were laughing so hard.

My treasure this week is this article about the miracles of breast milk. I just keep thinking about how God is so cool! While alternatively being pissed off that is has had almost no research done on it. https://archive.is/20240913174327/https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2024/09/11/breast-milks-benefits-are-not-limited-to-babies

This was SO INTERESTING!!

“For Bruce German from the University of California, the neglect of breast milk will rank “as one of the great embarrassments of scientific history.” A field consisting mainly of men didn’t think to study a substance that only women’s bodies can produce?!? 🙃🤦‍♀️
