๐ Lil Treasures #267: Cher, Biblical Valentines + Fancy Sleep
We're talking toilet paper and eggs and a new book recommendation!
Happy Friday, friends!
Each week continues to surprise me with itโsโฆinformation and things. Are we really not even 3 months into this year yet?
Do not fear! I am not here JUST to complain about this overwhelming last month in our political climate (although I could do that). I have some great action homework, lighthearted internet jewels and a few podcast and book recommendations to throw your way. If you have some treasures you have dug up yourself on the internet this week, please share them!
Aaaaand now, for this weekโs treasures:
๐ Loved this post about raising sons to take both personal and collective responsibility (make sure to read the whole thing).
๐ง I had the lovely opportunity to talk with Sara Billups and Morgan Page recently on theThat's the Spirit podcast! We had a great conversation that centered around questions of faith and the difference between white queso and yellow queso. You can listen here or wherever you get your pods!
๐ซ Just your daily reminder from Lady Sharon that governments do not exist to maximize profits.
๐ณ Grief is such a hard thing for us to understand - especially as adults, and even more so for children to try and wrap their tiny brains around. Annie F Downs wrote a new book just for kids to help them when sad things happen that they donโt understand. Written specifically for her nephew who lost his baby brother, Where did TJ Go? is such an important story and so helpful if you have any kids in your life who are going through unexplainable loss or grief.
๐ฅ Can we take a moment for Cher looking so fine in her performance at SNL50? What is that womanโs secret? I, along with Kevin Costner and Jon Hamm, would like to know.
๐งป I always enjoy following the Read Receipts account on Instagram and especially loved this roundup centered around toilet paper and eggs (among important other things).
๐ฉท In honor of Valentineโs Day, this weekโs episode of Faith Adjacent is all about Biblical Romance Superlatives! What characters in the Bible would YOU give a Valentine to? Get your daily dose of romance and find out who we picked by listening to the episode here.
โค๏ธโ๐ฅ Fiction writers know what they are doing when they make this small change to a book character.
๐ Sports people/Eagles fans, is Saquon Barkley really this pure? I loved this clip of him seeing the Eagles ball boy in the crowd at the Eagles victory parade and bringing him along to celebrate.
๐ซ One of my favorite things about the internet is when someone takes a good opportunity to crowdsource random things, like in this case of a question about girliesโ favorite whimsical habits. You can see a whole collection of responses in the post, but this one below was my personal favorite:
๐ฅ I always want to take the opportunity to provide a few action steps if youโre feeling hopeless or not sure how what to do in these continuously darkening political days. Here are a few ways you can help and actions you can take today! Donโt give up!
๐งฅAs a human person and particularly a mother who is trying to keep it together when my News app is on fire, this really poem struck a chord.
๐ Itโs so fun to have an annual Galentines party with friends (let me know if you do this in the comments), but this one had a lil twist.
We meet again, memesโฆ
Thatโs it, folks! Thatโs all the treasures this week could contain. Until we meet again, have a delightful weekend! Hope to see some of you in Atlanta (Powder Springs if weโre getting specific) for the Author Event at The Book Worm!
Hello, actual Pennsylvanian here! Not from Philly, but a little over an hour away, and surrounded by Eagles fans, though! CAN CONFIRM Saquon Barkley is literally too pure for this world. He went to high school in eastern PA and then Penn State so his PA connections are fairly significant, and lots of people in this part of the state at least know someone who knows him and will confirm that he is the kindest, most genuine person. Lots of accounts of him at bars in State College before being drafted (but already very well known) just being a regular nice guy, then paying for everyoneโs tabs and giving the bartenders a wild tip. So yes he is 100% actually this pure and wholesome and we love him very much!!!!
This year for Galentines we made friendship bracelets and stamp cards to track and celebrate things that we want to do, and everyone took home a marker with a stamp and a felt/fabric heart with a mini flower bouquet. It was a lovely evening to spend time with the girls๐
