Greetings, ladies and gents!
I have been in a defeated, kick-rocks kind of mood and the current flow of impending doom news, so that is where you’ll find me today as we begin this newsletter. What I need to know is how are YOU??
Give me a lil pulse check for how you’re doing in the comments, and then don’t forget to share some of your own treasures while you’re there! Goodness knows we (I) need ‘em.
Can’t wait to see some of you in Charlotte (Davidson, to be more specific) for the next stop on the Book Tour! Let me know if you’re coming so I can get my high-fives ready.
Here are a few of my favorite treasures from the week:
💗 Needed to read this important reminder that being annoyed is often the price you pay for community. It doesn’t promise not to inconvenience or disrupt our peace from time to time, but it’s worth it to stay connected.
🪄 Saving this video for when I need a good pick-me-up.
🎧 Had the biggest blast recently on the Saved by the City podcast chatting with Katelyn and Roxy about Mexican Pizza, important questions and Truth or Dare. You can listen to the episode here!
⛪ Beth Allison Barr’s new book Becoming the Pastor’s Wife comes out next week (March 18th), but you can currently pre-order it on sale for 40% off at this link, plus you get free shipping! I’m almost finisher with this puppy and let me tell you, it is a dazzler.
💄This marathon runner had her priorities in check while racing in the New York City marathon.
😥 I shared these thoughts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr about feeling unsettled (magically designed by Danielle Balfour) on Instagram earlier this week, but it deserves a permanent placeholder here in the newsletter.
🎬 Don’t forget to check out the newest episode of Faith Adjacent, this one being a Cinema Sidepiece on the film Heretic. Do religious horror films (or conversations about them) interest you? Listen to the episode here!
🫶 Freaking Adam Grant and his convicting thoughts on cynicism! I hate to admit how many times I’ve had to re-read this post to remind myself to listen to what it says.
Meme Hall of Fame 🏆
That’s the end of this week’s newsletter, pals! Maybe you’re like me and spiraling frequently these days. If that’s the case, do not lose heart, my beautiful diamonds! And know you are not alone riding this chaotic rollercoaster created by this administration. Call your reps today and go buy some flowers! I’ll see you again here next week 💛
Y'all, it's Pi(e) Day, and we celebrate science/baking in our house, so we will be talking about circles and having friends over to eat pie!
Also, tomorrow is March 15, the Ides of March, and it tickles me to no end to eat Caesar salad every year.
I wish you all pie and salad if that's what you need right now!
(P.S. what is your favorite flavor of pie? I love a good blueberry)
So much goodness here, as always. But that Ron Rolheiser quote about spiritual health via Rich Villodas—ugh why does that have to bring such truth?! It’s like all the toks about why do I feel so terrible, have I slept, or drank any water, or eaten anything that wasn’t caffeine yet today? The reminders (personal attacks) we all need. Thank you.
