đ„€Grapico soda, Stephen Colbert + trickle down yapanomics: Lil Treasures #312
We're talking defying gravity, ponytail holders and jimmy eat world
Hey, itâs Friday! We made it!
For those who care about football, Super Bowl weekend is here, which really means weâre all just busy planning out what exquisite snacks and treats to prepare and readying our hearts to get down to some Bad Bunny. Whatâs on your menu for the big game?
My heartâs Super Bowl (the Winter Olympics) is also here, and for that I rejoice. If you have a sport youâre going all in on during these games, I want to hear about it! I specifically like curling (there are multiple couples competing together!) and am newly invested in hockey (who isnât?), but itâs all fun to me. I like to have a little nationalism, as a treat.
Enjoy these treasures, beloveds! đ«¶
đ„€As a transplant Alabamian, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this lovely man from Fiji try his first-ever sips of Grapico soda and Miloâs sweet tea.
đ I love reading Ben Cremerâs thoughts on things, and really appreciated his post and perspective on the passage regarding the mark of the beast in Revelation 13. If youâre not on IG or if you prefer to read it essay-style, itâs also here on Substack!
đ€ Listen, I am absolutely obsessed with this STUNNING cover of Defying Gravity. Trust me when I say you gotta listen to the whole thing! The key change!
đ Jo Saxton has a lot of really wonderful things to say over in her newsletter at A Cup of Jo, aaaand I have a few fun subs to give away if you want a peek behind âye old paywall. Let me know if youâre interested and Iâll get you sorted! I especially thought her recent essay, This isnât normal, is a must read.
đ€Œââïž Weâre headed back to the Thunderdome, baby! This weekâs Faith Adjacent episode aka Thunderdome III is all about crowdsourced chaos, with contenders like Christian artistic expressions, nepo babies versus reality show contestants, and an ultimate showdown between purity culture and the prosperity gospel. Listen to the episode here!
đŁThis is such an excellent piece by Kat Armas that she wrote following the church service disruption in Minneapolis.
đ±ââïž I love to complain about being a lady sometimes, and itâs precisely for annoying reasons like this that I do.
â°ïž These precious angels held a funeral for one of their Barbies, and the attention to detail is just so perfect. I cackled at the shoe coffin.
đ„ Our current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, tried to challenge Pope Leo VIXâs Scripture reference (đ) (I mean, kind of not really, he just spewed some talking points but whatever) this past week and The Late Show host Stephen Colbert was not having it.
đ§ŽLast week I shared about this fundraiser for Minneapolis families, and I would still love to point you in that direction if youâre looking for ways to give to our friends in MN! Another huge way you can help that community right now is by purchasing items from this hygiene wish list on Amazon. Many of these families have been stuck inside for an extended period of time, unable to work or buy necessities like groceries or even toiletries. So if youâre looking for tangible ways of helping meet those immediate needs, I would recommend either of the ones above.
That is all for this weekâs newsletter, my lovelies. Canât wait to read your treasures from the week, make sure to drop them in the comments before you go. See you next week! Miss you already.

My daughter overheard her boyfriend telling a friend that we are âan Olympics family,â and my daughter was so thrilled. Treasure #1 this week is that the Keep the Flame Alive podcast ladies are reporting from Milan already and it is a delight as always. I promise you, this is coverage you will not hear anywhere else. Also, as big fans of womenâs hockey, we watched the first match last night, and itâs so fun to pick out all the women weâve been watching in the PWHL. This afternoon, we head to our local university to watch their womenâs team play and itâs âOlympics Day,â so fun! And treasure #2 is the most recent episode of the Outdoor Minimalist podcast (donât be turned off if youâre not into outdoorsy stuff!), called We All Play a Role in the Resistance. If youâve been doing work that maybe doesnât look like everything youâve been seeing/hearing/reading about, this might be as encouraging to you as it was to me.
I want a recurring Steven Colbert Jesus juke segment on his show wow that was great
