Happy Friday to you! Homeownership got me again this week, so this newsletter will still be the appetizer to a hearty entree to come in future weeks. Thanks for hanging in there with me! And now for your treasures:
🥇 Guys, the highlight of my week included interviewing REAL OLYMPIANS for an upcoming episode of Faith Adjacent. I can’t wait for you to hear it! Also, for your weekly dose of pre-Olympics prep, you should read up on Ajeé Wilson, who runs track. She pregames her races with Beyonce and takeout food so I feel a deep connection with her! And of course, shout out to my beloved Karen Chan who is the best giver of gifts - she sent me this special edition Olympics hydroflask and I have never hydrated so eagerly in my life. 1
🌭 Y’all Heinz created a petition calling for the equal amount of hot dogs and buns to be packaged and I signed it so quickly. Down with the superfluous buns!
🦸 For my fellow WandaVision fans who also grew up watching Psalty READ THIS ARTICLE. My mind is blown.
😎 We recently joined a pool near our house, and it has been a game-changer for my kids. I think they would rather live there than with us….but anyways, if you spent any amount of time at your friendly neighborhood pool growing up, treat yourself to this video!
And now, let’s give it up for those good Tweets 👏
Would love to know your thoughts on this very important question:
Alright pals, that’s it for now - stay cool and hydrated this week! I’ll see you in the comments.

It's been a while, Swipes.
First and foremost, it's a hair tie. I cannot be swayed from this.
Secondly, can we talk about the delight that is In The Heights? Did I miss that moment to talk about it because it is such fun. Husband and I went for dumplings one day and I saw that it was showing at our local cinema, an advance screening of some kind... and we went, and James wept happy tears and I loved every moment of the whole situation.
Thirdly, those cinemas are now closed yet again as "Greater Sydney" has gone into lockdown. We're two weeks in, and "Greater Sydney" is a strange term because, friends, I do not live in Sydney. I live two hours from Sydney and the government has decided that anywhere close enough for people to commute TO Sydney should be declared part of Sydney. I get the logic of locking us down but also, don't call me Sydney. I am not in Sydney thank you very much.
Fourthly, my brother-in-law is getting married today in an area outside of lockdown and they're zooming it for family, and I have a very important question. Soft pants are a legit choice for a wedding outfit when you're in lockdown, yes? They better be because hard pants are overrated and this is important to me. Also, what is make-up? Zoom destroys my complexion anyways so why bother trying to be pretty?
Finally, some news I have not yet shared. No, no, I'm not pregnant, but... James was re-tested recently to check all the levels of all the things and work out if we'd need some assistance in actually getting pregnant. Guess what, friends? HE'S GOT NORMAL LEVELS. This is TMI, for sure, but the sperm can swim and the testosterone is high and the cortisol is firing. Halle-freaking-lujah.
Hi friends! Catching up on both last week and this week this morning.
Last Friday we returned from our Vegas Vacation with friends. Vegas is…something. Overwhelming to say the least. We had a good time though! We ate good food, saw a couple of fun shows, hung out by the pool. It wasn’t quite as relaxing a vacation and then we had a packed 4th of July weekend with fun things so getting back into the swing of things this week with my unpaid staff position at church was tough. I just want to do summer things all the time. 😆
Speaking of that position, I have been told I am still not going to be able to get paid anytime soon and like I’ve said before, that didn’t use to bother me but it really is starting to. Ministry is hard and it’s been a hard season for several years at our church. Things are moving forward in a new direction and I want to be more excited about it at all but continue to feel overwhelmed and frustrated, probably just burnt out a bit too. Anyway, I’m praying about what God is leading me to do. I can relinquish some of my responsibilities and focus on being the youth program director (yep, still unpaid) because I desperately want my own kids and students in our church to have a place to connect and come closer to Jesus as well as feel comfortable inviting their friends. With so many changes and transitions in the last few years, our youth ministry has taken a huge hit too so while we have done a decent job at “keeping it going”, I’d love to figure out how to make it new and fresh as well and I’m not feeling that creative and inspired right now. As always, that is taking a big part of my brain space.
