👖 Lil Treasures #98: Wide Legged Pants and a Jazz Connoisseur
Also featuring: A Cheesy proposal and puppies in coats
HI GUYS. It’s me, Erin. I’m back from New England and properly changed by the magic of leaves and apple cider donuts and historical monuments. It was the best! This was me the whole time, absolutely geeking out over everything around me.
I was so lucky to be a part of Cheer Her On Weekend, and highly recommend you check out Melissa and what she is doing over on her podcast to celebrate women and create meaningful conversations. I’ve met some of the best people because of the internet and she is definitely one of them. Thanks, internet!
Ok, let’s do some treasures!
🎧 Heather Thompson Day, author and host of Christianity Today’s Viral Jesus podcast had me on as a guest recently and we had a grand time discussing everything from faith to Spanx. You can listen to the episode here!
👑 This article in Rolling Stone, featuring two queens of angst and female empowerment, Alanis Morissette and Olivia Rodrigo, is speaking to both young Erin and adult Erin simultaneously. Please oblige your inner teenage soul and give it a read!
🚩 PSA! The Your Unsoothed Heart is Your Most Powerful Weapon pennant banners are still up for grabs for one more week! I’ll be taking pre-orders until next Friday, October 22nd. Hang it in your home office, give it as a holiday gift, wear it as a kerchief around your neck. People way cooler than me created the design (Oxford Pennant) and I’m excited to release them into the wild.
💗 Highly recommend sharing this poem about friendship with all your buds.
📚 It’s a big week for book releases - so gird your literary loins and lets talk about a few I’m excited about! The brilliant Dante Stewart’s first book, Shoutin’ In the Fire is officially out into the world and needs to be added to your shopping carts ASAP 🔥 . I’ve been following Dante on social media for a while now, and his voice has been pivotal in pointing me in the right direction and exposing the gaps in my thinking when it comes to views on racism and white supremacy. Second up: everyone’s favorite mom on the internet, Heather Macfadyen, also released her book Don’t Mom Alone today! Heather is the host of the Don’t Mom Alone podcast and is such a valuable advocate for helping shape a healthy motherhood culture. And last but not least, Kristen Strong’s devotional When Change Finds You looks so delightful! I know a lot of you were asking for recommendations on a daily devotional, and I think this one would be a great fit. Right now, you can get it for 30% off plus free shipping, which is a pretty amazing deal. Happy reading, friends! 🤓
🐶 It’s starting to get cold outside, so here’s an important reminder to stay warm:
🎷 And finally, if you’ve never been to a jazz festival, not to worry - this expert is here to tell you all you need to know.
TWITTER HALL OF FAME
THIS TWEET HAD ME ROLLING
Have the best weekend, my friends! Your treasures give me life and I can’t wait to read them. And don’t forget - it’s never too late to come join us over on The Swipe Up+! We started the dis/entangle study earlier this week, but if you join now you’ll still have access to all the study content and other fun perks. Hope to see you there!
"You have very antiquated taste." "Thank you." I died.
Now that I have free time during the week, I get to do things like weekly-ish lunches with a friend. It's still warm enough to sit by the river, and we may bust out the kayaks the next time we go.
The local chain of movie theaters shows older movies on Sundays and Wednesdays and I FINALLY got to go for the first time this week. If you think I'm going to pass up watching Clue on the big screen, you've got another thing coming. Tim Curry at the height of his powers, I love it.
I got my final check in the mail this week, and my boss very generously paid out my PTO even though my contract says it's use it or lose it, so that will be a huge help.
I feel reasonably confident that Erin has shared a list of resources on Anglicanism here before, but I can't find it. Help?
Well, hello there! It's been a while since I posted because apparently my brain shuts down on Fridays nowadays? Because of that, I can't tell you about my week, like, what even happened? I don't know! But here are a few treasures from the top of my head/my 8467 open tabs.
💇♀️I got a haircut yesterday. Not just a trim but I actually changed the style up (a little) for the first time in years and I think I love it?
🧦 Dear Santa, for Christmas I would very much like these socks from the Modern Mrs Darcy gift guide, pleaseandthankyou. https://www.etsy.com/listing/677343322/book-socks-so-many-books-so-little-time?ref=shop_home_active_1&pro=1&source=aw&utm_source=affiliate_window&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=us_location_buyer&utm_content=136348&awc=6220_1634133021_44cf0ada4ce53b4bb440a8593576803b&utm_term=0
☺ New favorite word: SMYSTER, smiling to yourself while daydreaming. (19th century Scots) I love it because I do this a lot! 😂
📺 Ted Lasso. So good. And it made me want to move to Richmond, it seems so pretty!
👶 I can't handle this baby running. https://twitter.com/tomfolanmd/status/1448817479606841345
🤣 Mispronouncing food items. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUOKCeWrYzq/
I hope you'll all have a wonderful weekend!
