That Free People comments section nearly took me all the way out! I cannot figure out who those shorts were made for.

Today’s news about Kate is so sad, and you can see how visibly uncomfortable she is having to discuss her health when she’d wanted to keep it private. Which she has EVERY right to want. Being a public figure doesn’t mean that the whole world has the right to demand information about her health, not to mention all of the wild conspiracy theories people were spinning about her (based on spurious “information” from people who had no knowledge of the situation.) I cannot imagine how difficult the surgery and discovery of her cancer were, and to have been the subject of ridiculous rumours (including that William killed a relative because of her) must have been extremely painful. I may be a bit more sensitive about this because I just had to take 3 months off for medical reasons and it was physically and mentally exhausting, and that was without the entire world speculating about me, my husband, and the state of my marriage. All I can say is that Kate and William must have an excellent group of friends because not one of them leaked anything about her, even though they’d seen her around. We should all hope for that level of compassion and discretion from the people we’re closest to. (And I’m in no way trying to dunk on this week’s Popcast episode, which I’m hoping was done in the spirit of good fun.)

HI! Hello! Okay, so I took y'all's advice and started reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! While it is the perfect read for March and it's crazy weather, I have to admit that I have questions about where DHS is for the Dursleys! Gah, they are driving me bananas! Thank you to all who suggested that I read this last week. I am enjoying it and will report back from Hogwarts soon. This week was a much better week for me and I was able to keep better track of some treasures!

-A friend has been sending me gardening reels on IG and my home feed algorithm is picking up on it. I'm not mad about it. A couple of my favorite ones are https://www.instagram.com/reel/C22wwuPqE9h/ and https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4wpgzxNi-0/

Who knew that that's where strawberry seeds lived? What a joy it would be to have plants producing indoors in the winter!

-A woman in the quilting circle at church came over on Tuesday and showed up on my steps with a sewing machine. For me. To keep. I was agog at her kindness and have spent quite a bit of time in between March Madness attempting to conquer bobbins. Wish me luck. :)

-Pantsuit Politics' latest podcast (released 3/22) about the controversial TikTok ban was extremely helpful, and nuanced, and helped me think a bit more about my own social media use.

-Another podcast episode that I enjoyed was Currently Reading's release last week about what is working/not working in our reading lives.

All right, everyone! That's it for me. Erin, enjoy Paris and I hope that all of you lovely people have the best weeks available to you. :)

I’m super late, and normally just a lurker, but my family could use lots of prayers and I figured we could find a few here -

My brother collapsed after running a half marathon on Sunday and suffered cardiac arrest due to a previously undiscovered heart defect. He’s 30 years old and newly married. He’s alive, but still unconscious. We are waiting to see if he sustained brain damage and how much. If you have a moment, please pray for healing for his mind and body, and strength and peace for all of us as we wait.

I'm super late to the comments, but it's been that kind of day.

It was snowing all morning and my 30 min commute took 2 hours. Thankfully, I'd done a bit more car repair a few weeks back and my car did great. I'm not thrilled to be driving in snow but very thankful to have had a safe experience today.

I'm 2 days away from my own spring break, aka a week off to paint my house and hang out. It just so happens to be the local spring break and I'm so not sad to be off while the library is wild.

My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer almost two years ago. She was already declining before being diagnosed at 87/88. The last 3-4 months have been really hard on her and she's decided to begin hospice care. My brother and I are planning a visit in the next two week. I'm thankful that we live so close and I don't have to do this alone.

Erin, I hope you and the tweens have the best spring break possible. Enjoy your weekend friends!❤

Hi Li'l Swipes! Happy Friday! I'm utterly gobsmacked today (for Erin - or "dead chuffed" as the Brits might say). After the past year plus, which has been a nearly nonstop $h*t$h0w, this week I had two amazing things happen - TWO!! I've been so slow I've been to learn my new job duties and all the software platforms (Power BI, IPEDS data, etc.), that I've been terrified of being fired on a weekly basis. But yesterday, my wonderful, gracious boss invited me to take a new role that is such a perfect fit for me that I cannot believe it. And then today, I got a call from a co-worker in another division who wants to implement an idea I submitted for our strategic plan, and I get to help execute it with them. After months and months of beating myself up and frustration to get TWO highly encouraging things happen - it's so clearly a God thing. I cannot stop smiling about it.

I feel like the circle of people who wear head to toe Costco and those who wear those shorts never intersect. My favourite comment was “My mom always said if you have to put sunscreen of your vagina, then your shorts are too short”.

I wish you all the luck with the hormones of that many 14 year olds together.

Oh man. Kate. This whole thing is such a wild ride. And I also checked on Harry and Meghan. It was lovely to see them just plugging along, maintaining healthy boundaries, doing good stuff stuff. She also restarted her lifestyle brand thing. Did anyone see her old one before she had to close it?

Erin, that trip is not for the faint of heart, but I hope it is amazing.

We are still nursing our dog. Had to get some staples redone so two more weeks with the cone of shame. But it has been sweet to care for her and do her little doggie rehab. I'm really hoping she has a fantastic summer after all this.

📚 Guys. Demon Copperhead. Masterful retelling. So heartbreaking. These are my people, and she just nailed it. I read the physical book and i “heard” the narrator in my nephews voice. 😭 The beauty and intelligence and sensitivity and generosity that has just been chewed up and ground into the dust without a care. Kids that just never had a chance. Gah!

So. I need a palate cleanser. Sarah Bessey to the rescue! ❤️

📚 Also, I randomly grabbed these at the library. I suspect these will be downers as well, but I am starting on my summer reading early this year. (I alternate between memoirs, biographies, and fluffy beach reads):

- H is for Hawk, Helen Macdonald https://bookshop.org/p/books/h-is-for-hawk-helen-macdonald/220235

- Queen of the Air: A True Story of Love and Tragedy at the Circus, Dean Jensen https://a.co/d/fzY4rAS

(this was supposed to become a movie starring Margo Robbie, but seems like it never happened.)

💃 This awesome dance group:

🌌 And if you aren't tired of that tune yet, here is a parody of the actual video for Star Wars Day in a month:

🐢 This “nature show”:

🎨 I don't have money to spend on art right now, but I wish I could. This art show by Mari Andrews “Sacred City” about life in NYC looks so cool. My faves are the felted wool pieces. If you click each one you see the artists inspiration and a corresponding meditative practice for each piece. (Though, maybe start with the subway one and not the rats. 😆)

I watched a few “crankies” after the one Maggie Smith linked to in her newsletter, and found this one to be quite sweet. I remember making these in grade school. Some story about the warm fuzzies and the cold pricklies? I think it would be fun to make one again.

That's all from me. Looking forward to seeing you in the comments!

Erin-I cannot wait to hear about your trip to London. I feel like you'll get the real KateGate lowdown from a doorman or a bus driver or a sales lady at Marks & Spencer. Travel safe and have that camera ready!

You’re traveling internationally with 25 14 year olds? God bless you. Sending all the vibes for emotional regulation and no one doing something really dumb.

I LOVED the PopCast deep dive on KateGate. It’s oddly comforting to see a family/institution with such privilege, wealth, and outwardly proper manners be an absolute sh*t show.

Today is a snow day for us in mid-Michigan with a winter storm rolling in late last night. It’s fine!

A favorite treasure this week was finishing my first knitted in the round AND color work project! It was so satisfying and I’m super proud of myself.

I think we are going to be in London and Paris around the same time as each other! Forget a Kate Middleton sighting! I'll be looking for an Erin Moon sighting!

Happy Friday! We made it another week and survived the Great Pollen Attack of 2024™️ (IYKYK)

Being the psychos that we are, we decided to foster another dog and picked up Waylon Jennings Wednesday night from a basset hound rescue in Alabama. For those playing at home, we now have TWO basset hounds. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ He’s the sweetest dog but it’s taking some adjusting. Remember when you had one kid then had another? It’s like that but with more pee and slobber. 😂

Holy Week is approaching and if you know me, you know that I listen to the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack non-stop the entire week whilst taking a break from social media. It’s the best cleanse and gets you in that mindset as Easter approaches. I find knew things every time I listen. Highly recommend!

Erin, safe travels for you and your family!

Happy Easter, y’all!!
