Erin!!!! The conspiracies podcasts were awesome. And I was right there with you in the alive Elvis one. I was like that is compelling…..alas, I am unable/unwilling (?) to go the the lengths Jamie has and look at autopsy photos. I will just have to trust her.
🥐 we traveled to Austin last weekend and drove out to Abby Jane Bakery in Dripping Springs: the croissants/other pastries were incredible, we bought freshly milled flour, and the whole experience was very healing during these trying times™️
👗 I’ve been enjoying scrolling through fancy fashion blogs/substacks for inspiration then finding items on the various resale sites to freshen up my wardrobe
🩰 I started taking beginner adult ballet and it feels so good to do something new and challenging with my body
📖 I just finished Wives Like Us by Plum Sykes and HIGHLY recommend, especially if you’re a Bridgerton fan
🥰I got to spend last weekend with some dear friends in NC which was lovely.
😴I came back tired and ended up leaving work early to nap. I'm beginning to realize that I like 1/2 days almost more than a random vacation day. I'm not always good at letting myself just do nothing. Working in the morning scratches that productivity itch and then I have the afternoon to play. I'm hoping to scatter a few of these days throughout the darkness of Jan/Feb
🛌The only good thing about it getting cold here, is that I've brought my heated mattress pad back out. Getting into a nice warm bed is such a treat!
🚫I'm not doing Thanksgiving this year and I'm so excited! For the last 8ish years, I lived near my Nana and would go to her house. Last year, when I had to stay with her the whole time, I realized that this was not going to work. I'll continue to make a fall/Nov visit to her, but I don't think I'll be going for the holiday anytime soon.
🎄I'm off the whole week and will be sewing and putting up Christmas decor. I'll also be dog-sitting/binging all the shows for a day or two.
💵I might be getting a promotion!?! The librarian that supervises our youth support staff is stepping down which is fabulous because she is mean. Like, we went to our library director to talk about how poorly she treats her staff. My boss basically offered me this job a year ago, but the current librarian didn't end up stepping down. My boss brought it up again yesterday right before the announcement was made, so it seems like she's still interested. I think it would be a good fit and that I'd be able to do a lot in the position, so hopefully it all comes together.
The Kermit stuffie playing the role of baby Elphaba. 😂
Treasure time! 🌟
- I am obsessed with this stuff and have a cup of it every morning with flavored oat milk creamer: https://www.everydaydose.com/. I am very sensitive to caffeine, and this is both delicious and has helped with my ADHD symptoms almost as much as my meds. 🤯
- Got back into reading this month after a rut, and finished 2 books that I absolutely loved! Book 2 of The Penderwicks series, and The Housekeepers by Alex Hay. The latter was like Ocean’s Eleven meets Victorian England with maidservants who want to burn a family’s legacy to the ground. It was SO GOOD.
- I signed up for the paid Pantsuit Politics subscription on Nov. 6, and the morning update videos with Sarah have been saving my sanity. Getting my cabinet pick updates this way was an easy Decide Once (team LG ftw!) and I’m so thankful for her nuance and determination to be hopeful.
- A 2nd generation potted plant that came from one of my mom’s sprouted a new growth for the first time last week. 🌱 My mom died in 2023 and would not be happy with the election results, but the timing sure feels like a nudge from her to hold onto joy and hope. ❤️
Wishing everyone the coziest, calmest weekend available!
Thank you so much, Erin. I'm tearing up right now because last week was so hard. We had daylight savings time, the election, I had so much schoolwork, and it was the one year anniversary of my grandpa's death and this year we found out that my grandma has cancer at 94. I need all of the goodness right now.
I do always try to come to the comments with some treasures, and I do have some!
-I have rediscovered the power of a warm bath. I am planning on getting a few new things for my bathroom to spruce it up a bit too (washcloths, new soap dish, a decoration or two).
-My writing friend, Jen, sent me some of her beautiful hand lettering via snail mail and the designs are a delight.
-Spending quality time with my dog. Tillie needs so much grooming this time of year and it gets me outside. We run around and play and we both come in feeling better.
-Feeling good enough to get back in the kitchen and bake some bread with Kendall Vanderslice's recipe. It's nutty and delicious.
-Making sure that I have enough time to read outside of class. Why haven't I noticed that I need this before now???
I'm going to borrow Dawn's language and say have the best "Ongoing Dumpster Fire" available to you!
During this Ongoing Dumpster Fire, my family has instituted a bunch of systems and rhythms to keep from collapsing into a pile of despair and junk food. One is Appetizer Friday. We are going to open our home on Fridays from 6-8pm. People just have to bring an appetizer. Grief + cheese + friends sharing funny videos seems good. I've got puff pastry waiting in the wings for tonight.
Cutting tonight a bit short because we are going to a play at a local theater! Our friend is directing The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Excited for the apple-cheeked English children and their brave and friendly animal pals work their magic.#turkishdelightisnotworthitmydude
Tomorrow we are seeing a live radio play at another local theater where our friend is the stage manager. I have a deep love of Foley artists and I am so excited.
as a Horse Girl™️, johnathon already had my heart under lock and key and since I learned he requested Jack, I haven’t known peace.
haven’t been here in a minute - swooping in while I lie awake in the middle of the night. my in laws are in town this weekend and i’m already dreading it lol. prepping to put up christmas this week because it brings me joy and like david taught us - joy is an act of rebellion.

I love that younare taking ballet! I took yap a few years ago and it was so fun!
Next time you're in the area, Mazama Coffee in Dripping Springs is my fave.
I also recently started taking an adult beginner dance class (Irish dance) and completely agree! It’s been so good for me.
That’s so fun! I’m hooked. I love the idea of trying things I didn’t get the chance to do as a kid.
Same! It’s such a gift to be able to do so now. ❤️

I hope you get the job - and that your Thanksgiving week is lovely!
a heated mattress pad sounds like a game-changer!
It is incredible!
The saga with that coworker!! I’m glad things are aligning so well for you. 🙌
Congrats on the potential new job! Sounds like it would be a win win for you and your team.

This is a great list! Hooray for the mama nudge.
Ohh, I love the Penderwicks!
The way she writes girlhood and a realistic, loving family dynamic gets me every time 😭

Oh, what a heavy load. I'm glad you have found these gentle, nurturing things for this season. ❤️
Oh Sarah! Sending you lots of love. That is a lot to carry, esp. with your grandma’s diagnosis. ❤️
We survived another week! Cheers everyone! 🍸

Got our tix to see Wicked. Yay!
So theater and cheese on lock. Amen.

Appetizer Friday, that's brilliant!
I love the appetizer Friday idea!
I will be watching the former theater kids turned parents act out Wicked from now until the foreseeable future. 😂😂😂😂
I hit order so fast on those Lazy Genius Playbooks!
