My big treasure was finally getting to see Wicked today! My bff and I made plans to take our tweens to see it and today was finally today. IT WAS PERFECTION. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
My treasure is not having to travel for the holidays! My mom and 2 of my brothers are coming to Detroit which is super fun. The boys are staying at my house, which should be very fun.
Posting less is a fascinating read. I found myself posting less this year but in the best way. I found myself intentionally connecting with other creatives or long distance friends vs just posting to post or sell something.
I realize I enjoy telling visual stories ex IG stories. I enjoy offering thoughtful ideas in small words.
I’m forever surprised by the people in my real life who stop me and say “Your IG feed is like a hug for my soul.” So I post when I feel like it, when a beautiful thing catches my eye or a reflective thought seems helpful.
My 2024 treasures I didn’t know I needed:
1. Barrel leg jeans from Gap.👏🏼
2. David Beckham IG reels of him walking me around his farm as he sips coffee and tells me about his chickens and kale😂
3. Beginner embroidery kits where the lady in the video reminds me “process over perfection.”🪡
4. All things Eras Tour. Especially the random videos of backup dancers reacting to Taylor.🫶🏼✨💕
5. Espresso > coffee. My little mini espresso pottery mug that I insist on traveling with to work bc it’s cozy.☕️
🌟 We have folks over for soup and bread and an appetizer potluck every year for Solstice, and I'm looking forward to this year's gathering so much. I am hoping it doesn't rain so we can use the firepit!
😇 My husband and I are training to be ushers (which is no joke in an Episcopal church), so we are working all the Christmas services this year while we get the hang of things. (We are always messing something up 😆) But I am most excited about the family Christmas pageant. Those services are so dang cute.
Wishing you a gentle holiday, swipes, and a bright new year. Xo
I am waiting to hear back about a job offer that should come today or Monday. I have interviewed for four jobs this year and made it to the final round of interviews for each one, but have not received an offer. I am praying that this one will be different. I really do not want my heart to be crushed right before Christmas, and I also really enjoyed everyone I met during the interview process. I feel like it could be a really great fit. I recognize that God has a plan for me, but it is so hard to patient, and if I'm being completely frank, sometimes that plan isn't fun.
As for Christmas treasures......
- The Montgomery Symphony Orchestra presented Home Alone in Concert earlier this month where they showed the movie Home Alone and played along with the music. It was truly magical!
- I'm going to my parent's house tonight to have dinner and watch Christmas movies. I'm an only child and they live an hour away in an area that basically becomes a ghost town during the winter, so I like to visit them when I can, especially around the holidays.
- I highly recommend watching the 2016 Broadway Revival of She Loves Me right before Christmas. She Loves Me is the musical that is based on the book that inspired You've Got Mail. You can stream it with a free trial of BroadwayHD! It is absolutely perfect for this time of year!
- I just picked up a copy of Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore from our library! I'm so excited to read it by the tree over the next two weeks!
Okay, that's it! I hope y'all have a peaceful holiday season and can find something relaxing/fun/joyous to take part in! Can't wait to catch up in the comments <3
As I listened to the latest Faith Adjacent, I thought, 2024 was the best of times and the worst of times. This is a phrase (h/t Dickens, obv) that in our house we usually reserve for when the time period of my husband’s military service comes up. Anyway, every time I’m tempted to call 2024 the worst year ever, I remind myself that my daughter graduated from college with an engineering degree and got a job she really likes. I don’t want to take that very, very good thing away from her. Treasures for the season: light, funny, closed-door The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig (don’t bother with the other books in the series, they are not funny and you don’t need to read them to enjoy this one); and of course Christmas in Connecticut, the 1945 movie, which I watched again last night and laughed so much.
Congratulations to your daughter, and to you! I hear you on remembering the both/and of it all. I thought about that a lot as I wrote our Christmas letter. It wasn't *all* bad, which I often forget.
And you've inspired me to put Christmas in Conneticut on while I work today. That really is a fun movie. 🥰
I resonate with Peterson’s advice to Post Less. I’ve gotta blog, newsletter, FB, other stuff plus writing some books. Time to relax a little.
And I really, really like the comment that if anything is not kind and compassionate then it’s not of Jesus. It applies to my own behavior and it also helps distinguish between true and false prophets.
Hello everyone! Here are a few treasures from my year:
-I invested more time and effort into my writing, meeting some of the best people along the way.
-I went back to school, enrolled in a four-year university, and finished two courses.
-One word. Therapy.
-Sarah Stewart Holland reminded me of the solar eclipse earlier this year, and I am so glad she did. It was the most amazing thing.
-I was physically strong enough to drive again! Not very far, but we're going places, people!
Have the best holiday season available to you!

Treasure alert! Samin and Hrishi are back with a new episode today of their delightful podcast Home Cooking!!!
Yay I love them so much!

May have to follow/thoroughly scroll David Beckham’s IG. Loved the doc, but don’t usually pay attention to or follow celebs.
He’s a fun one bc he doesn’t post a ton. I do love these moments where he nerds out about produce or bee keeping😂

Yup, they had me with bee keeping in the doc.
I haven't been online much lately, so my internet treasures are limited to wicked memes.

Congratulations, Lauren!!!
Just an update.... I got the job! I'm so thankful!
Congratulations!!!!
I love Shop Around the Corner/Youve Got Mail. How did it not know about this musical? Oh, well, 2016 was a rather "full" year. Lol
Your treasures sound lovely. 🥰 Praying for your job offer!
It's SO good! And this version of the story ends on Christmas Eve, so it will be the perfect thing to watch this week ;)
AND.... I got the job! Woohoo! Thank you for your prayers!
Woohoo!!!
