Dinner at Helen with 3 internet friends. I’ve never heard such beautiful stories and laughed so hard in 2 hours. And y’all, they are right about the biscuits, well the butter.
Spent a few hours at The Legacy Sites in Montgomery. I will never be the same. Why aren’t more people talking about them? The best museum I’ve ever been to.

And I always love when an awards show performance gets the audience all riled up and singing their hearts out. Whoever designed and choreographed that needs an award of their own. Dang!

I’m a low decoupler myself — if the people who taught me how to have faith go on to commit/cover up abuse in their churches, that is enough to make me need to reexamine every single thing they ever taught me, because what else were they lying about?
It is also kinda common to see autistic Christians online bristle at things like “it’s relationship, not religion” (because relational skills are often difficult for us, but systems/history/theology are more in our wheelhouse). It’s easy for me to hear “so the thing I’m specifically disabled at is the important and valued thing, and the thing I’m fascinated by and good at is not valued, cool cool.” It was nice to hear it clarified in a different way in that video, even if I still can’t get my head around my relationship with God being a separate thing from the actions of the body of Christ.
I suspect what puts many of us on guard against that phrase is when it’s used to shut down intellectual engagement or serious questions, similar to “head knowledge vs. heart knowledge,” a false dichotomy and the scourge of our people. That is NOT what the Jude 3 video is doing, phew

I'm sorry that the destruction of the American democracy had to happen at the same time, but we're all still excited for the book and for you!
