👾 Lil Treasures #99: Jesusween and a Family of Monsters
Also including one venti caramel macchiato on the rocks
Hello friends! We did it! We made it to Friday, so cheers to us 🥂
I feel like I’ve been gabbing a lot lately in this space, and I’d love to hear more about how YOU’RE doing! Hit me with your best thoughts, personal opinions, playlist recommendations, etc. I want to know what is motivating you right now, what goes into your Fall Opening Ceremonies, how you’re celebrating the holidays this year! You guys have so many valuable things to share and I want to hear all about them. If you’re a new Lil Swipe, this is the perfect time to introduce yourself and share some of your own treasures in the comments! My treasure for the week is Bri McKoy’s pumpkin chili 🤤. I made it this past weekend (after searching for pumpkin puree all over Birmingham) and it was delightful. Can’t wait to hear from you, pals!
But for now, let’s get down to some treasures!
✍️ As a writer and someone who also has a love/hate relationship with the algorithm, this post from Shannan Martin is spot on.
🧶 To my fellow dis/entanglers (or for anyone walking through a time of reconstructing your faith), Emily P. Freeman did a podcast episode over on The Next Right Thing podcast called For Us, As Our Faith Changes and it is so. good.
🚩 TODAY is your last chance to get your hands one of the Your Unsoothed Heart is Your Most Powerful Weapon pennant banners! They are made of felt and they are lovely and they can easily be hung on any gallery wall. If you were waiting until the last minute to pull the trigger on purchasing, make sure to get your order in by the end of the day today!
🎃 Halloween is only 9 days away, so to celebrate we did a whole Favored or Forsaken episode about it over on the Bible Binge! If you grew up going on spiritual hayrides or to your local church Trunk-Or-Treat, this Jesusween episode will be right up your alley.
👖 Lindsay Rush nailed it again with this poem about jeans.
😆 Also, speaking of jeans and fashion, this video BROUGHT ME BACK and I don’t want to go backkkkk.
✝️ I recently got my copy of the First Nations Bible: An Indigenous Translation of the New Testament and I absolutely love it. It is just so beautifully translated! Jesus is changed to “Creator Sets Free” and eternal life is “the life of the world to come that never fades away, full of beauty and harmony.” If you’re on Instagram or a Bible Binge listener, then you’ve already seen me hype it up, but it is truly lovely and makes me both calm and emotional reading it. If you’re in the market to expand your library of Bible translations or just need a new perspective, this is a great one to own! 1

I saved this to read today while I would be sitting with my Granny in her rehab facility. Long, slow hours to think. Thanks for the hilarious tweets and other goodies to help me through.
What a week. It is 10:15 pm and I am sitting in my "comfy" chair with my dogs at my feet and all the dishes are washed. Amen.
💻 - I had a couple big wins at work this week, and I needed them. It was a huge morale boost after weeks and weeks of stress.
🍁- It rained and more is on the way. In CA it means so much for the rain to come in the fall. The leaves have turned earlier than usual, and I've had deliciously autumnal walks in beautiful old neighborhoods with huge tree canopies.
🏡- we got all our house projects done for the turning of the season, and my heart is at ease coming into the holiday season - which NEVER happens for me.
📻- Before I saw Erin's recommendation I was going to mention that episode of the Next Right Thing. It really is good. Ive also been playing Lazy Genius Breezy Instrumental as well as generic s potify playlists of spooky classical music to get through my workdays. This time of year I also like to listen to bluegrass and have been listening to Sarah deshield's album "Death and the Woman", which was recommended by Rachel Held Evan's sister Amanda, who sang on one of the songs.
Lovely to read all your ups and downs and to learn a bit more about some of you through dis/entangled.
